Dream Wuya's words were laden with a sigh of melancholy, as if they stemmed from a deep, personal sorrow. Xia Ning Chang could sense the grief woven into his voice.
Had her master endured such a sorrowful experience? She was about to ask when she realized that Dream Wuya had already vanished.
At the same moment, outside the wooden hut where Lingxiao Pavilion's guardian disciples were stationed at Heifeng Trade Market, a sweat-drenched young man hurriedly approached. He gently knocked on the door, suppressing his panting breath, and called softly, "Senior Sister Su."
"What is it?" A cold, distant voice replied from within—a voice as captivating as it was aloof, with a chill that seemed to keep others at bay.
The young man nearly froze, his sweat almost turning to ice, as he shivered involuntarily. He finally managed to say, "Young Master Su Mu was knocked unconscious, and his men were also apprehended by the Law Enforcement Hall and thrown into the Dark Prison."
No sooner had he spoken than the door of the hut abruptly swung open, revealing Su Yan in her pristine white attire.
The young man quickly stepped back, bowing his head, not daring to look directly at Su Yan's flawless beauty.
"Explain clearly, what happened?" Su Yan asked softly, but the entire wooden hut seemed to exude a visible, bone-chilling cold, with the sound of ice forming on the ground.
The young man hurriedly recounted the events in detail. After he finished, there was a long silence. He couldn't help but call out softly, "Senior Sister Su?"
When there was still no response, he dared to glance up cautiously, only to find that Su Yan had already vanished.
"Dear heavens!" The Lingxiao Pavilion disciple nearly collapsed to the ground in a heap.
This Senior Sister Su was too cold! Whoever marries her in the future would likely need to cover themselves with a thick quilt, even in the height of summer. But then again, someone as pure and noble as Senior Sister Su—what man in the world could be worthy of her?
No one could have anticipated that what began as a minor skirmish between the younger disciples of Lingxiao Pavilion would escalate into a tempest, involving so many powerful figures.
Within the Dark Prison of Lingxiao Pavilion, Yang Kai, Li Yuntian, and the others were still confined. Over an hour had passed since their capture, yet there was no sign of any developments outside.
Li Yuntian and the others were growing anxious, puzzled as to why Su Mu had not yet taken any action. But on second thought, Su Mu had been knocked out at the time, and they had no idea if he had regained consciousness. If he hadn't, there was naturally no way for him to organize a rescue.
As they fretted, the door to the Dark Prison suddenly opened, and the sound of footsteps echoed. A disciple from the Law Enforcement Hall approached the cell where Yang Kai and the others were held, unlocked the door, and called out, "Who is Yang Kai?"
"I am," Yang Kai replied calmly.
"Come with me!" The Law Enforcement Hall disciple commanded unceremoniously, "Someone wants to see you."
Yang Kai's expression darkened, but he merely let out a cold laugh. Without fear, he stepped out.
"Senior Brother Yang, don't go! Wait for Young Master Su to rescue us," Li Yuntian exclaimed, grabbing hold of Yang Kai.
"Let go!" The Law Enforcement Hall disciple shouted angrily, "Anyone who dares to interfere will be considered an enemy of the Law Enforcement Hall. You know the consequences."
Yang Kai turned to Li Yuntian and said, "I'll go have a look. Don't worry."
Li Yuntian reluctantly released his grip, but cautioned in a low voice, "Senior Brother Yang, be careful!"
"Hmph!" The Law Enforcement Hall disciple sneered, "How reckless."
After locking the cell door behind Yang Kai, the Law Enforcement Hall disciple led him outside.
Before long, they arrived at a room. The man opened the door and, with a sinister grin, said, "Please, go in."
Yang Kai glanced at him, also smiling coldly, before stepping inside.
The Law Enforcement Hall disciple followed closely and shut the door with a bang.
Almost the moment the door closed, Yang Kai spun around and struck the Law Enforcement Hall disciple's chest with his palm, channeling his scorching True Yang energy into the man. The disciple screamed in agony as he was sent crashing into the wall.
He hadn't expected Yang Kai to dare attack him, and the blow landed squarely, nearly knocking the wind out of him.
"You've got some nerve!" A furious voice echoed from within the room, followed by the sight of three or four figures rushing at Yang Kai.
Yang Kai barely managed to block one attack before he was overwhelmed, thrown to the ground and pummeled.
Amidst the chaos, Yang Kai roared in fury, blood seeping from the corners of his mouth. The taste of blood only fueled his excitement, causing his True Yang energy to surge through his meridians at an extraordinary speed. The searing heat emanating from his bones spread throughout his body, causing his skin to flush bright red.
This time, the energy surging from his bones felt far more potent than before.
With a fierce roar, Yang Kai executed a Dragon Twisting Pillar technique, moving with wild abandon as he sprang up. In mid-air, he kicked out with both feet, striking two Law Enforcement Hall disciples in the head. With cries of alarm, they stumbled backward.
But before Yang Kai could land, a figure shot out from the side. A hand grabbed his ankle with precision, and with a powerful swing, Yang Kai was hurled against the wall like a rag doll, groaning as his insides churned.
Struggling to his feet, Yang Kai wiped the blood from his mouth and surveyed the room in the dim light.
It was a sealed chamber, with five Law Enforcement Hall disciples inside. Based on the energy fluctuations during their brief exchange, Yang Kai estimated their strength to be around the Opening Source Stage. However, the man who had thrown him possessed a much more turbulent and intense energy, clearly having advanced to the Qi Transformation Stage.
Outnumbered five to one, with a significant disparity in power, this battle was clearly a losing proposition.
But Yang Kai smiled. In the face of such adversity, a surge of battle intent rose fiercely within his chest.
"You dare to strike first!" The Qi Transformation Stage disciple snarled, "You've got guts!"
The other four stood behind him, their expressions icy as they glared at Yang Kai.
They had received orders from Cao Zhengwen to thoroughly teach Yang Kai a lesson, just short of killing him. Yet, as soon as he entered the room, Yang Kai had taken the initiative, catching them off guard and embarrassing them.
"Heh." Yang Kai leaned against the wall, his head slightly lowered, his bloodshot eyes darting among the five of them. In a voice as cold as death, he said, "You want to beat me up, and you think I shouldn't fight back?"
The Qi Transformation Stage disciple's face darkened, and he sneered, "You're sharp. Since you know what we intend, you should just let us beat you without resisting. That way, Young Master Wei Zhuang can vent his anger. But if you dare to resist, you might end up losing a limb or two!"
"You can try!" Yang Kai replied coldly.
"Stubborn fool! Beat him!"
With that command, the five of them moved in unison, their attacks merciless, showing no intent of holding back. Given their strength, any one of them felt confident enough to handle Yang Kai alone. Now, with all five attacking simultaneously, they expected to easily teach him a brutal lesson.
