Sweet Nothings with Nurse (part 4)

"Huh??? Liza Malaccias? Dude, she's my niece!!"

"What? Your niece, ma'am?"

"Yeah! So you're buddies with her?"

"Well, kinda. We were sorta a thing. Like, M.U. She's two years older than me."

As I was hyped up talking, I noticed ma'am's face changing. It looked like she had something to say but was letting me finish my story.

"That explains why you looked familiar... You're related to Liza."

"Yeah, strong genes on my mom's side. Our grandma, my mom, and her mom all share the same features, especially the nose and lips. We've got some Spanish blood."

Ma'am paused for a moment and then continued.

"So, how far did you and Liza go?"

I hesitated before answering.

"This time, don't hold back. Just spill it all. I won't get mad."

"I had a major crush on her. I was probably the only guy in her class bold enough to give her a love letter. But she turned me down right away. I gave her the letter in August last year, and her reply was like, 'Dude, don't even bother!' We didn't talk until December, and that's when our deep friendship started."

Ma'am just laughed at my story, which I enjoyed. Then she glanced at her watch.

"It's 11:30. Aren't you hungry? Let's hit the cafeteria. My treat. If we see Mags, I'll tell her I'm counseling you. I'll borrow you for a while."

I didn't even get a chance to respond. Next thing I knew, we were outside the clinic, and she put up a "Lunch Break" sign and locked the door.

Other sections were using the rooms in the Math and Science building now. My class was probably in another building. Students with a vacant period were also coming out.

We bumped into Ma'am Francia, my Math teacher from the first period.

"Hey, Chris, how are you feeling now?"

"Ma'am, I might be counseling Christopher, so I'll excuse him from his next classes."

"Oh, really? Alright, I can excuse him myself. What happened to him? He seemed out of sorts earlier."

"He's been really stressed, like a trauma. He can't sleep well. His mind is too busy. So, we're going to decompress all his thoughts later. His brain is so active, that it probably told his body it was tired, which led to his collapse. Thinking can be exhausting too, you know? His brain likely used up all his blood sugar. Sugar is brain food..."

"Okay, got it... Where are you heading?"

"To the cafeteria... We'll have lunch first, then start the first session."

After saying goodbye to Ma'am Francia, we walked to the cafeteria near the gym. We joined the flow of students.

We passed the park facing the gymnasium. I saw familiar faces, classmates heading to the cafeteria, and Cons and Jennifer walking together. I also saw Mags.

"Miss Magnolia!"

Nurse got her attention, as she didn't notice us while looking at the ground. She first looked at nurse, then at me as she got closer.

"I'm excusing Christopher from your class. He's going to counseling. He's got a lot on his mind. We'll start at 1 o'clock in the clinic."

"S-sure..."

"Join us for lunch."

Magnolia just smiled and tucked her hair behind her ear. We all headed to the canteen together.
