Damn! He scaped!

Hopping off Mang Cris' jeep, feeling the vibes around me. Mang Cris started grilling me about the cops and that Jeric dude who got pinched for shooting someone. He waved me over, telling the cops I was mom's kid. Turns out, those two cops knew my mom from back when she was their elementary school teacher and basketball coach. They asked me what I was doing there, and I told them I got a text saying Jeric had been nabbed. They assured me they'd take care of it.

I was recounting all this to Lorraine while we chilled in the park.

I butted in, saying something like, "Yeah right, that guy's gonna slip through again like last time." They replied, "Nah, this time it's serious, he's not getting out of this one." But then it started raining, so we decided to hop on a jeep and head home. Couldn't keep yakking with Lorraine during the ride though.

It had been ages since I'd seen Lorraine after I messed up Jeric. See, they didn't actually lock Jeric up; he was just in a room with a lazy guard. When I peeked in, we started cussing each other out.

"You're so screwed," I kicked things off.

"Idiot! I shot your mom! What'd you do about it, huh? You and your Gagalangin crew are nothing!"

Damn, that hit me hard.

"I beat you up! You didn't even land a hit on me. Dude, I'll get locked up just to mess you up inside! You won't touch me!"

"Idiot! Fix your mom first! Fuck you!"

A cop stepped in and put a table between us. Jeric got pissed and stood up, but I wasn't backing down either.

"You're screwed! You'll get it in the ass in there… Your chicks are mine now! You can't even get a girl! I heard you've never even touched one. Man, what a loser! Chick-magnet without a girlfriend, getting fed by a gay dude! No one wants to touch you 'cause you dress like a slob!"

Turns out, that's how to piss this guy off. The cop even chimed in that Jeric was going down for attempted murder.

We became the entertainment for the other inmates. Jeric wasn't put in our tight 1 by 2 meter cell, probably to keep him from getting jumped.

I didn't notice Mang Cris leave. Last I saw, he was chatting with the two cops who knew my mom.

When the cop mentioned Jeric's case, I piped up, asking why he wasn't locked up yet.

"He'll be inquested tomorrow. We gotta wait for the complainant."

"My mom's the one he shot..."

"Yeah, but you can't file a complaint right away. We just caught him… No lawyer yet. We can't just throw him in."

Then we heard a creak from the roof. Too late, we saw Jeric squeezing through a gap in the room. We could only hear his footsteps. He jumped down to the street outside.

Chaos erupted! He ran through the market, and we lost track of him. The cops radioed for backup from the detachment. They had to lock it down to keep the other prisoners from copying Jeric's escape. More cops showed up, and I slipped away, worried they'd find my gun. I made it back to my apartment. I've been alone here ever since Jeric shot my mom. Can't go home to Bulacan; my dad's too pissed at me. He doesn't even know I'm here.

During this time, I got close to Jessica. She always had cash and helped me out when I was broke. She raked in a lot from hooking up with this Taiwanese guy in Recto. He even wanted to set her up in a house, but she refused since she'd get less money that way. She said she did him good, just like she did with me before. She told me not to worry about paying her back since she was rolling in dough. But I promised I'd return the favor someday.
