Seo-yeon woke up the next morning and it was as if Joon-woo's touch was still imprinted on her body. She rather smartly put on a clean, white bodice and a smart, corporate-like skirt to counteract whatever that day would come with. Her mind was inclined to all the possibilities and threats in the future, she had a clear goal.
There in the dining room, her father was already seated with a newspaper spread on the table. "Good morning, Seo-yeon," He responded briefly without lifting his head.
"Father, good morning. " She sat down opposite him and looked at the newspaper's headlines. "Anything interesting today?"
He looked at her over the rim of the paper he was reading. "Oh those are always going to happen you know It's politics". I did find an article on Joon-woo though He is becoming a big player in business.
Seo-yeon smirked. "I can see why," she said softly, "He is quite … persuasive".
Her father looked sidewards and arched his eyebrows. "Hmm, is that what you think? Anyway, stay careful, Seo-yeon, men like Joon-woo are murderous".
That evening, Seo-yeon again came to Joon-woo's office; she was both looking forward to seeing him and nervous at the same time. This led her into a large room fitted with large glass windows all over the floor making her to have a wonderful view of the city. Joon-woo leaned on the edge of his desk like he owned the place and everyone in it.
"Seo-yeon, you are looking even prettier than I have imagined," said the man, quite lecherously and with what I consider a sexy smirk on his lips.
Seo-yeon looked at him with Propositions still in her Eyes at every moments, she further gave him a cold look & said softly to him: "It was. . . memorable. "
"Shall we get started "?
Joon-woo's eyes sparkled with interest. "Straight to the point. I like that. Have a seat."
Seo-yeon sat into a chair while Joon-woo is leaning against the desk and now staring at her, frowning. Seo-yeon, I have a proposition to make her that is interest to the both of us and has a high propensity of coming through.
Seo-yeon arched an eyebrow. "I'm listening".
The rest of the day was more or less a series of discussed meetings, negotiations, and other similar strenuous activities.
Seo-yeon thought that it was nice of her that she liked Joon-woo's smart and perceptive traits.
Towards evening Joon-woo drove Seo-yeon to her car. "Good work today Seo-yeon, I have positive thoughts about us from today onwards. "
Seo-yeon turned to face him, her eyes locking with his. "Just remember, Joon-woo, I won't be an easy conquest."
Joon-woo's smile widened. That is exactly what I want to happen, I wouldn't want it any other way Nevertheless, the moral of the story still remains and it is a rather positive one.
The next day Seo-yeon received an invitation to another glamorous event by Hyun-soo, the competitor to Joon-woo for Seo-yeon's attention. The situation was tense; everyone's nerves were on the edge. Seo-yeon could feel that people were observing her or just simply following her eyes whenever she crossed the path of dancing mass.
He smiled warmly at her and Hyun-soo walked up to her. "It's nice to see you Seo-yeon".
"I appreciate it," Seo-yeon said automatically, although she could see the nerves still present in Do-yoon. Thus it is indeed the gathering.
Hyun-soo then looked at her for what seemed to be an extra second or two longer than what was natural. "Perhaps you will like it; I would like to introduce you to a person".
He guided her to an open area where some of the most important people in the society were engaged in a serious discussion. Thus Seo-yeon was not able to feel a twinge of interest as she was introduced to each one of them, knowing the possibility of forming a partnership as well as opportunities that could be obtained.
The night slowly went on with Seo-yeon being left alone with Hyun-soo most of the time. He moved closer and whispered to her". It is nice to finally meet you Seo-yeon, Joon-woo says many good things about you".
Seo-yeon looked at him questioningly, with her head to one side. ''And what do you think, Hyun-soo?''
He smiled – and there was nothing the slightest vernal about it; the eyes were very black, very piercing. "I believe you are a person I would like to become friends with, However, Seo-yeon, do not fall for Joon-woo. He is not to be trusted."
Seo-yeon was delighted when she saw this part of the scenario and her heart almost stopped beating. "And why is that?"
"Because he is constantly searching for a way to climb himself up to a better position whether or not it is right," whispered Hyun-soo. "Just make sure you do not fall for him," he added softly.
The next day Seo-yeon woke up and went to Joon-woo's office with the information Hyun-soo told her spinning inside her head. The moment when she was entering the room Joon-woo raised his glance and looked at her directly.
"Hello Seo-yeon," he said with a warm tone. "You must have had a good time the other night".
"Indeed," Seo-yeon answered without any hesitance and her eyes remained fixed on him. "I met Hyun-soo".
Joon-woo's expression remained neutral, but there was a flicker of something in his eyes. "And what did he say?"
Seo-yeon smiled slightly. "He told me you will harm me".
Joon-woo laughed and shook his head then. "Of course he did", Hyun-soo and I have a …complicated relationship But Seo-yeon believe me I only have your interests at heart.
Seo-yeon tilted forward so she was kneeling in front of Ji-hyun, her expression quiet but alert. "Prove it then, Joon-woo". I said that to him again, this time with more force as if to convey my message of why should I give him my trust.
The smile slipped from Joon-woo's face leaving him looking more resolved. "I will,I promise you Seo-Yeon. Just give me a chance".
As they delved into their plans for the future, Seo-yeon couldn't shake the feeling that she was walking a tightrope, balancing between two powerful men with their own hidden agendas. But she was determined to play the game on her terms, no matter the cost.
