(Rhaegon's POV)
"Brother, Brother!" Monica said excitedly, "What if I get to claim my own dragon today?!"
It was Morrow and I had brought Monica ahead of anyone else to the Pit, waiting in the small arena before the entrance to the cave.
"That's....that'll be great..." I said as I stared ahead in the distance
I was still in shock at last night's news; Mother was pregnant and I was going to have another sibling. Father was so happy he drank a few barrels worth of wine and he still hasn't woken up yet.
Monica was holding my hand as she shook with nervousness, "I cannot believe this...." She said, "I'm so excited....."
I nodded, "Be careful, though." I said, "Do not get too overconfident. This isn't something you can approach carelessly. If you just approach a dragon, no matter the size, you can get hurt."
I wonder though, which one of the unclaimed dragons will she attempt to claim. Currently, there were three full-grown dragons in the Pit; Arraxes, Morghul, and Meylax. The Silver-Wyrm was the King's Dragon, of course and the Azure Queen was Mother's mount. Out of those three, Morghul was larger but somehow the most calm.
Aside from those three, there are more full-grown dragons; Sundancer, Moonfyre, and Shrykos. They were not here in King's Landing. Moonfyre and Sundancer reside in Dragonstone while Shrykos has been moved to Winterfell.
There were a few more small-sized ones, including Naerys and Helaena's dragons, but none of them have been claimed. From the unclaimed ones, one is too vicious to even get near, breathing fire at anything that moves. It has isolated itself in one of the caves and only eats. Only a few keepers have successfully gotten it out and tried to train it. Uncle says it may take time to get it to calm down.
The other unclaimed dragons are barely bigger than the Naerys or Helaena's dragons so it's a good fit for Monica or Myrcella.
"Ah." I heard Uncle's voice, "You are here, good. Your Mother won't attend, she has decided to stay in bed."
I turned around to see him walking towards us, Myrcella behind him. Ser Arthur and Ser Barristan followed right behind them.
"Uncle." I said, "Good to see you outside the Keep."
He clapped his hands, "It is unusual for me to be here." He said, "I hope Arraxes isn't in a foul mood. He does exercise once in a while, which is good. I regret not being able to ride him in the past month."
I nodded, "When I was here, he was in a good mood." I said
He leaned down and patted Monica's head, "Oh, my dear." He said, "It is time for you to attempt to claim your own dragon. Centuries of our House's history are right before us."
Monica smiled, "Thank you, Uncle!"
"That smile, that's why I do this." He chuckled as he straightened up, "Oh, here they come."
I turned to see some keepers walk out of the cave, holding their sticks out as a small dragon, as large as them, walked beside them. It was bright blue with an outline of purple, it had to bright yellow horns that protruded outwards as it's orange eyes darted around.
"W-Wow..." Monica said as the dragon let out a screech
"Dohaeras!" the keeper commanded as the dragon stopped and sniffed the air, "Rybas!"
The dragon looked at Monica, its bright eyes piercing through her. I noticed that she was immediately shaken by it, beginning to tremble slightly.
"Do not show fear, Monica." Uncle Rhaegar said, "The dragons can sense it."
"Calm yourself, sister." I said as I gave her an assuring nod, "Just take a few deep breaths and we'll go up to it."
"O-Okay..." She said
I glanced back at Myrcella, who had a nervous look on her face. If I remember correctly, that was the same dragon she tried to claim a year ago. It nearly snapped her arm off if it wasn't for Ser Jaime jumping in to save her.
"Out of all the unclaimed ones, this one is more obedient...just barely." Uncle said, "I do not know why the other two are feisty."
I nodded, "Agreed." I said, "Mayhaps it's-"
I was cut off by the loud screech of the dragon as the keepers kept shouting commands at it.
It stayed in place but was shaking its head violently, looking straight at us as screeched loudly. It didn't seem like it was going to go for any bites or anything, maybe it was trying to display dominance.
Suddenly, there was a loud thud followed by a deep growl in the shadows of the cave's mouth.
The dragon immediately quieted down and froze.
I saw that from behind them, Morghul emerged, looking down at the smaller dragon, walking around the keepers, and making his way towards me without taking his eyes off them.
"Morghul, Naor!!" One of the keepers shouted
"Morghul...." I said with a frown, "What are you doing...?"
The Dragon bowed its head as it looked up at Morghul, almost as if it understood that it needed to calm down.
Morghul then looked at me as it shook its head, letting out a deep rumble.
I sighed as I walked over to him, "Why are you out?" I said as he nudged me with his snout, "We're here to have Monica claim her own dragon."
Morghul then reared his head back and let out a roar, pointing up to the sky. I understood; he wanted to fly.
I rolled my eyes, "Can't it wait?" I muttered as I looked back to Uncle Rhaegar
He chuckled, "It is fine." He said as he nodded, "You can take him for a few laps. I expect Arraxes will come out as well, if he's not asleep. Our dragons have their own will, do they not?"
Morghul nudged me again, vocalizing loudly as he looked at me.
"Fine." I said as I looked at Monica, "Good fortune, Sister. Tell me how it goes, okay? I believe in you."
Monica smiled, "Yes!" She said,
"I will."
