Chapter 10: Get rid of her, and I'll give you the position

To marry into a wealthy family, she really fought hard, and I suddenly saw her in a new light.

Anyone who strives for their goal, no matter the methods, as long as they put in the effort, deserves respect—as long as it's not through ill-gotten means.

I followed Sang Qi all the way to the Dayu Group, and Miss Yao followed me all the way.

I took the opportunity to check out Miss Yao on Baidu during the ride; her full name is Yao Keyi, and she's a relatively unknown actress who occasionally shoots some ads and plays minor roles like the third or fourth female lead.

According to Baidu Baike, she wasn't officially Sang Qi's girlfriend yet, but it said that lately she had been the fixed female companion by his side.

No wonder she was so aggressive; one must cling to hard-earned opportunities.

I followed Sang Qi into the lobby and was about to follow him into the elevator when a security guard stopped me: "This is the president's elevator, miss. You take the other one."

I looked over at the adjacent one, jam-packed with people.

It seemed like I wouldn't be able to squeeze in even after three rounds of waiting.

I pointed at the ceiling: "Look, a UFO."

The guard actually looked up, and I seized the opportunity to slip into the elevator and pressed the button to close the doors.

He stood with his hands behind his back, eyes fixed on the numbers jumping above the elevator door, not looking away.

"Is this how you journalists survive?"

"Hey." I rubbed my nose: "Special circumstances, special measures."

"What position do you want?" He actually took the initiative to ask me.

I thought about it seriously: "The head of your Secretary's Office."

A disdainful smile finally rose on the corner of his lips.

He was such a strange man, about to go mad with irritation at me yet he could laugh, albeit rather creepily.

"You really have the nerve to ask."

"Isn't the head of your Secretary's Office abroad right now? Since you can't find someone suitable and you've complained about me before, you should know me very well. I am the most desperate and impressive journalist in our magazine; I am capable of being a secretary."

"You really did your homework in advance." The elevator reached his floor, and he stepped out.

I still followed him, pressing close: "I never fight battles I'm unsure of. Since you need to hire someone anyway, why not give me a try? I'm very useful."

He pushed open an office door, and I glanced inside, guessing from the luxurious decor that it must be his office.

I blocked the door to prevent him from shutting me out: "Well?"

"I could promote someone from within the Secretary's Office to head it." He glanced down at my foot blocking the door.

"If those people were up to the task, you wouldn't be looking for someone outside, would you?"

He suddenly moved his foot next to mine and nudged mine aside with a little force.

I trembled and almost fell over. Just then, the secretary who had stopped me before came running to report: "President Sang, Miss Yao is making a scene in the lobby downstairs, demanding to see you."

Sang Qi was about to enter the office but stopped upon hearing the secretary's words.

He turned to look at me: "If you can handle her, you can pick any position in the Secretary's Office."

I retracted my foot that had been blocking the door and hopped around cradling the foot he had kicked.

He entered his office and slammed the door shut.

The secretary shrank back, startled: "Is President Sang that angry today?"

I went downstairs and Yao Keyi was still hopping mad in the lobby, pointing at the nose of a security guard and scolding: "Do you know who I am, you blocking me from going up, you bunch of watchdogs!"

I frowned; in some ways, Yao Keyi really wasn't smart.

Making a ruckus in the lobby of Dayu Group, even if Sang Qi was inclined to let her be his girlfriend, he would surely reconsider now.

One of the most important qualities of being a public figure's girlfriend is to know the bigger picture.

Clearly, Yao Keyi was lacking in this regard.

I walked over, "Miss Yao, let's go have some tea."

She glanced at me coldly, "Vixen, in what capacity are you talking to me?"

"As President Sang's secretary."

She was stunned for a moment before reacting, "Aren't you a reporter? How did you become a secretary?"

"I've always been President Sang's secretary, a backup secretary." I said with a smile that confused her, then took the opportunity to walk over and take her hand, "Miss Yao, you haven't had breakfast this morning, have you? Let me accompany you to eat something."

"I don't need it." She shook my hand off.

"It's an order from President Sang, he's quite worried about you not having breakfast."

I must have seemed very sincere because Yao Keyi actually believed me.

She followed me, skeptical, to the breakfast shop downstairs of the building next to Dayu Group for breakfast.

I ordered a full meal for her and also got one for myself.

She was still hostile towards me, "Don't think I don't know that Sang Qi was with you last night."

"But nothing happened between us." I stuffed a large piece of egg into my mouth.

"Who would believe you? Vixen."

"You'll have to believe it, because if you don't, it's like sending a message to President Sang that you're planning to be dumped."

I meant what I said to her very sincerely, but she immediately jumped up, "What did you say? I knew you were up to no good, you really are involved with Sang Qi."

It was early in the morning, the breakfast shop was bustling, and while she was shameless, I still cared about my face.

I held her down, "Can you not understand human language? If you keep causing a scene, do you think Sang Qi will dump you?"

Her eyes widened as she looked at me, fuming, then she blurted out something that nearly floored me, "He hasn't slept with me yet."

I pondered for a moment before I could straighten out her logic.

What she meant was that since Sang Qi hadn't slept with her yet, he wouldn't dump her just yet.

I couldn't suppress a laugh, "Why must he sleep with you? If a man doesn't plan to sleep with you in the first week of dating, the likelihood of him wanting to sleep with you later on gets even smaller."

Her face turned pale as she looked at me.

"No way!" She was quivering, "I have a great figure."

It wasn't necessary for her to boast about her figure to me, as it was as inconsequential as my left hand holding my right.

"Isn't it said that after a man has slept with a woman, that's when he starts to lose interest in her gradually?"

"But he doesn't even have the interest to sleep with you at all!"

Her face flushed and paled, and finally, in a fit of rage and humiliation, she threw her fork in front of me, "So you said all this just to make me back off, right? You vixen!"

Constantly cursing someone doesn't solve anything.

I ended up in such a state and never cursed anyone in the streets.

"No way, I have to go up to find Sang Qi!" She jumped down from the stool and headed out, "Before yesterday, he never shut me out and refused to see me!"

I grabbed her, "With so many security guards at Dayu, do you think you can fight your way through them all to reach Sang Qi's office on the sixteenth floor? Besides, aren't you afraid that he'll start to dislike you even more?"

She said nothing, looking at me with a mournful face, "What should I do?"

She had a face that had clearly been surgically enhanced but not a bit of brain.

"You go back first, and just don't cause any trouble."

"You think you can trick me into leaving, but I'm telling you it's not going to be that easy!" She said through clenched teeth.
