She was very depressed and still didn't quite believe it, "How is it possible to be so beautiful without makeup?"
I thanked her for the compliment, but even if she didn't, I knew I was beautiful.
Otherwise, He Cong wouldn't have used my innate assets to send me to someone's bed.
It's not in my nature to avoid digging to the root of things.
But suddenly, I was tired and didn't want to inquire any further.
In the time that followed, I continued to play with my phone and she continued to touch up her makeup.
It wasn't until I saw Sang Qi's figure coming out of the elevator.
"He's here," I said.
Before I could react, Yao Keyi rushed over, not forgetting to grab me.
She ran incredibly fast in her high heels, nearly colliding with him.
Sang Qi's assistant reacted quickly, immediately stretching out his hand to stop us.
He was tall and powerful, probably doubling as a bodyguard.
Sang Qi saw us and stopped.
He noticed the look on my face wasn't good, having just seen me two hours ago.
From his eyes, I read a message; I realized his gaze towards me was hardly different from his gaze towards Yao Keyi.
In his eyes, I was like Yao Keyi, like gum he couldn't shake off.
This realization hurt a bit.
I am not that kind of woman like Yao Keyi, nor do I wish to be.
Yao Keyi grabbed my wrist painfully, rushing in front of Sang Qi, "Sang Sang, this woman schemed to get close to you, she's no good person!"
The Convention and Exhibition Center was bustling, Sang Qi had just concluded a business meeting, and surely many peers were around.
I said to Yao Keyi in a low voice, "Miss Yao, we should at least go outside to talk about this kind of thing!"
She glared at me fiercely, "Stop pretending to be the good guy! I know exactly what you're up to!"
Sang Qi strode towards the entrance of the Convention and Exhibition Center, his steps brisk.
Yao Keyi, clutching me tightly, hurried after him, following him all the way to the parking lot.
I had never experienced chasing a man like this, and the feeling was very uncomfortable.
Sang Qi's assistant had already opened the car door, with Sang Qi turned away from us, likely too lazy to give us another glance, "Yao Keyi, I made it clear to you yesterday, you are not suitable to be my girlfriend."
Oh, so she was dumped, no wonder she was so furious and came to settle the score with me today.
"No, Sang Qi!" Yao Keyi, with a crying tone, grabbed both of Sang Qi's arms, "This Xia Zhi, she's already married, you know that? This woman has a messy private life, she got pregnant with another man's child not long after getting her marriage certificate!"
Yao Keyi had someone investigate me, and very thoroughly at that.
But, somehow I felt Sang Qi's back tense up, then he suddenly turned to look at me, "You're pregnant?"
When he said that, I could tell, it was an instinctive reaction.
When a person unexpectedly learns of something unknown, they usually show surprise before gradually accepting it.
His first reaction told me one thing, that he didn't know I was pregnant.
He could sleep with me and not know I was pregnant.
But if someone had arranged for me to be taken care of and to have the child, it'd be impossible not to know.
His expression at this moment didn't seem feigned.
Suddenly, my heart felt a chill, and my fingers trembled with cold.
I realized that subconsciously, I was hoping that person would be Sang Qi.
Why?
Because he's handsome? Because he's wealthy?
I pulled my hand from Yao Keyi and slowly turned to walk towards her car.
Yao Keyi shouted at me from behind, "Where are you going? Come back here and explain yourself!"
She was clinging onto Sang Qi and didn't want to let go, so she didn't chase after me.
I walked to her car; my snacks were still in the passenger seat.
Their cars weren't parked far apart, so they could hear me if I spoke up.
I said to Yao Keyi, "Open the door, I need to get my snacks."
By now, she had been pushed away by Sang Qi and was entangled with Sang Qi's assistant.
She was too busy to pay attention to me, and I wasn't interested in watching her clinging to a man who clearly didn't want her.
"Yao Keyi, open the door!" I raised my voice a bit and then picked up a brick from the ground, "If you don't open it, I'll smash the window!"
She glanced at me, "You wouldn't dare!"
She thought I wouldn't dare, but she didn't know me well.
I hoisted the brick and smashed it down; it didn't break on the first hit.
A sports car's glass isn't that fragile, I could take a few more swings.
Seeing that I meant business, Yao Keyi had no choice but to let go and rush over to me, crying as she ran, "You're crazy, absolutely crazy!"
She still couldn't bear to see her luxury car damaged, so she opened the door for me. I got into the passenger seat while she stood outside, stunned, "What are you doing?"
"Drive me back."
The Convention and Exhibition Center is far, and there are no taxis around here.
I shamelessly begged for my money, so I can't just waste it.
She stared at me like I was an idiot, and by the time she came to her senses, Sang Qi's car had already driven past us.
She stamped her foot in frustration and sobbed, "Sang Sang, Sang Sang! My Sang Sang!"
I opened a pack of taffy, struggling and chewing, watching Yao Keyi cry.
She cried while driving, her makeup a mess.
After she finished crying, she started to curse at me, "You vixen, if I can't have Sang Qi, I won't let you either."
"I never intended to get him." Taffy is tough on the teeth; my cheeks hurt from chewing.
"You're lying."
"I've only known him for a few days, why would I want to get him?"
"With Sang Qi being so handsome and rich, why wouldn't you want him?" She was so astonished that she forgot to cry.
"Just because he's handsome and rich, I should want him?" I was amused by her logic, "There are so many rich men in the world, if I wanted every one of them, I'd work myself to death."
"You're lying, you definitely like Sang Qi, you're just afraid to admit it," she said through gritted teeth.
There really isn't much in this world I'm particularly afraid of.
I turned to look ahead casually and was almost scared out of my wits.
"The car, the car! Yao Keyi, watch the road!"
Only then did Yao Keyi look forward; another car was coming head-on.
She was so engrossed in arguing with me that she had forgotten to drive.
She screamed and jerked the steering wheel, then our car slammed straight into a roadside flower bed.
"Hit the brakes, you fool!" I yelled at her, but it was too late.
The huge impact force deployed the airbags, which hit my face painfully.
My first thought was whether the child had been hurt; I immediately felt my lower abdomen, but thankfully, there was no impact on my stomach.
Besides my face hurting, I was okay.
Cries of distress burst from Yao Keyi next to me, "Help, it's over, my face is ruined, you vixen, my face, quick check my face."
I turned my head with difficulty to look at her; there was no blood on her face, and her ability to scream so loudly indicated that the injury wasn't severe. "Is your nose fake?"
She looked at me in panic, "Has my nose collapsed? Has the implant fallen out?"
