Chapter-15

Destiny Points. Years ago, after killing a snake prowling around the village, Lin Haoran gained his first few points. Back then, he'd assumed destiny points were earned solely by taking life, much like gaining experience in a game by killing monsters. This was Lin Haoran's first speculation.

Yet soon, that idea proved unreliable, even outright flawed. As he trained with his master and slew more beasts, he noticed the number of points he earned was wildly inconsistent. There were times when he'd gain 40 points for defeating a mere insect, and other times when killing a massive demonic beast—larger than a house—yielded only a paltry three points.

It dawned on him that killing wasn't the sole way to earn destiny points; there had to be something more, something hidden. This thought gnawed at him for years, lingering at the edges of his mind—until the day he finally understood.

It happened after the bloody battle at the peak. His master, Chun Yijun, was gravely injured, and countless survivors were left homeless in the aftermath. Not knowing what to do and feeling lost, Lin Haoran descended the mountain in search of a physician, or any help he could find for his master. And on his way, he encountered the ruins of many people's lives—families broken, homes turned to rubble. Some were trapped beneath debris, others lay injured and desperate. Despite not being able solve all their problems, Lin Horan still tried his best to try and help everyone he met along the way, some he personally save and some who did not even see his silhouette by using his unique abilities.

Then, suddenly, something shifted within him: he was actually earning destiny points. And they were accumulating faster than ever before. He was stunned—could helping people really yield more points than killing beasts in the forest? A new understanding dawned, he then fell into an epiphany!!

Destiny. What was it, truly? Was it the ultimate course we're bound to follow, an unchangeable future? If he were fated to die tomorrow, was that simply his destiny? Was his master destined to die from his wounds in this catastrophe? Could fate itself be altered?

Lin Haoran rejected the notion of an unchanging destiny. He felt it in his core: destiny could be reshaped. This was it—the key to everything he'd been seeking.

His thoughts drifted back to that first kill, the snake in the forest. He remembered now: there had been an old man nearby, a gatherer searching for herbs. Could it be that the points he gained then hadn't come from killing the snake, but from saving the man's life?

Suddenly, he understood with startling clarity. No, it wasn't simply saving the man that had granted him those points. It was also killing the snake. By ending the creature's life, he had changed not only the old man's fate but the fate of the snake itself.

Change—this was the answer he'd been searching for all along.

Destiny points were born from altering the course of fate itself. Whether it was saving a life destined to end or ending a life that would otherwise continue, the act of change was what counted.

"And that's not all. This means fate isn't just a single thread dangling from the heavens; it's a web, intertwining and connecting with every living thing—even objects at times! It's the law of cause and effect. Every choice I make, every action that alters the path of another sentient life, gives birth to new destinies!"

Lin Haoran said as he sat atop mountain ridge, bathed in the soft glow of the moonlight.

The cool night air wrapped around him like a quiet whisper, carrying the scent of earth and pine. Below, the small village lay like a scattering of stars, its faint lights flickering in the distance, barely visible through the veil of darkness. The moon's pale silver sheen cast long shadows across the landscape, the stillness of the night wrapping the world in a peaceful silence. For a fleeting moment, it felt as though the entire village, the mountains, and even time itself had paused, held in the delicate embrace of the night.

'But at the same time, the trigger or change in destiny must be large enough, it must atleast be a life changing one for now I had only gain them by saving and killing someone' Lin Haoran thought to himself.

"But how do I gain them in large quantity at this time" Lin haoran said in depression.

For the past few days he had been peaking through the future of his master, and although looking through the future was more hard, unpredictable, and ever-changing than looking through the past all of them led to a dead end! Chun Yijun would die 3 days from now!! and even tomorrow if he was unlucky!! this led to the current condition of Lin Haoran farming destiny points like crazy, saving people here and there, and even killing any beast he found was a threat to the villagers but all that hard work led to an additional 570 destiny points!! which might not seemed like a lot but was humungous because he had only accumulated 180 point before the disaster!

Luckily, a lot of people needed saving in the chaos that netted him this grand total, and although it cost only 100 destiny points to spin the wheel of heaven and earth one time, Lin Horan was not someone who relied on luck. The number of F-rank healing abilities in the ability list was abysmal compared to the number of other abilities that exist even in the F-class alone, meaning that the chance of pulling a healing ability was non-existent.

But thankfully, the ability shop function actually offered an F-rank ability at a cost of 1000 destiny points!! This was daylight robbery considering that any random pull with 100 Destiny points could give him at least an F-rank ability at the lowest!! But if you could pick the ability you wanted, then even paying 10,000 points was worth it for an F-rank ability!!

"I can only try my best tomorrow" Lin Haoran sighted.
