Fiancée

Ye Qian glanced in the direction Qin Yue pointed and saw a young girl looking at him with disdain, as if he were her enemy. Her eyes were filled with contempt and arrogance. Ye Qian couldn't help but think, "What a beautiful girl, but why such a deep-seated look of hatred?"

Shrugging, Ye Qian walked to his seat, feeling an inexplicable sense that he might have some kind of relationship with this girl—though certainly not a friendly one. However, Ye Qian rarely lost his temper with girls, especially pretty ones, except for those who were both ugly and troublesome.

After sitting down, Ye Qian smiled and said, "My name is Ye Qian. From now on, we're classmates. Please take care of me."

"Take care of you? Do you think this is Japan?" the young girl scoffed, looking at Ye Qian with contempt. "Be honest, uncle. How old are you to still be going to school? Got nothing better to do?"

Ye Qian sweated profusely. Did he really look that old? Sure, he was mature, but to be called "uncle"? Thinking it was funny, Ye Qian said, "Isn't there a saying that goes, 'Live and learn'? As long as there's life, there's learning. Isn't that right?"

The young girl shook her head in exasperation and said, "Uncle, you're so old and still so childish. 'Live and learn'? I think your brain is waterlogged."

Ye Qian chuckled, not taking her words to heart, and asked, "By the way, I heard there's a girl named Zhao Ya in your class. Who is she?"

The young girl shot Ye Qian a nervous glance and asked, "Why are you looking for her?"

"Oh, it's nothing serious. I heard she's spoiled and ugly, so I wanted to be mentally prepared to avoid her if possible," Ye Qian said.

The young girl glared at Ye Qian, wanting to shout but afraid to disrupt the class, so she lowered her voice angrily, "She's not spoiled and ugly! How would you know if you haven't seen her?"

Ye Qian looked at her in surprise and asked, "Why are you so worked up? I wasn't talking about you."

"I... I..." The young girl stammered before saying, "I don't care. You can't talk about her like that."

Ye Qian looked at her in confusion and asked, "You two aren't... you aren't..."

"Aren't what? What are you trying to say?" the young girl asked with a stern face.

"Oh, nothing, nothing," Ye Qian said hastily. He had wanted to ask if they were a couple but thought better of it. After all, it was none of his business, and in modern times, same-sex relationships were common and accepted in many places.

"Nothing? You better say what you were going to say," the young girl demanded.

Ye Qian sighed and said, "Okay, but remember, you asked me to say it."

"Stop beating around the bush. Are you a man or not?" the young girl said disdainfully.

"That has nothing to do with being manly. Being a man is a fact from birth. If you don't believe me, you can check anytime. I was just wondering if you and Zhao Ya are... you know, a couple?" Ye Qian said.

"A couple? What do you mean?" the young girl asked, puzzled.

"Well, 'a couple' can mean people with shared interests, but it also means people who are attracted to the same sex. Like, you should be into guys, but you prefer girls. Do you get it?" Ye Qian explained, trying to sound like a wise teacher.

"You're talking nonsense! Who told you that? I'll rip their mouth apart!" the young girl glared at Ye Qian, clearly upset. Her angry eyes made Ye Qian believe that if he said he had made it up, she might really attack him.

"Uh, no one, no one. Don't get so worked up. I was just curious why you got so defensive when I mentioned Zhao Ya. That's all," Ye Qian said cautiously, his heart pounding.

"Not get worked up? Not get worked up? I'll bite you!" the young girl exclaimed. She grabbed Ye Qian's arm and bit down hard. Ye Qian, sensing her anger earlier, had been ready to dodge, but she was too quick. He yelped in pain, drawing everyone's attention. Qin Yue shot an angry glare at Ye Qian. The young girl hadn't expected Ye Qian to scream so loudly, causing all eyes to turn towards them. Her face reddened, and she glared at Ye Qian before turning away. Ye Qian laughed awkwardly at the others and said, "It's nothing, just got bitten by a mosquito."

The class, though not entirely clear on what happened, could guess the gist of it.

As the attention shifted back to the beautiful Qin Yue, Ye Qian rolled up his sleeve to reveal clear teeth marks on his arm. "Damn, are you a dog?" he muttered.

"You're the dog," the young girl retorted angrily.

Ye Qian shook his head and said, "A gentleman doesn't fight with women."

The young girl gave Ye Qian a disdainful look, clearly thinking he wasn't much of a gentleman. After a moment of contemplation, she asked, "So why are you looking for Zhao Ya?"

"You're really nosy, huh? Why do you care why I'm looking for Zhao Ya?" Ye Qian replied.

"Fine, don't tell me then. It's not like I care. Hmph!" the young girl turned away in a huff. Despite her anger, Ye Qian found her adorable and felt a strong urge to tease her. Smiling, he said, "Do you really want to know? Alright, I'll tell you. Zhao Ya's father has arranged for her to marry me, so I'm here to see her. In other words, Zhao Ya is my fiancée."
