Framed

Ye Qian was momentarily stunned, staring blankly at Wang Yu. "Girl, do we have a grudge or something? Why do you always cause me trouble?"

"I'm just doing my job. Someone accused you of murder, so you'd better come with us," Wang Yu said, her expression still blank.

"When did I ever kill anyone? Don't slander me," Ye Qian said.

"At 1 a.m. last night, a Chinese man named Zhao Xie was murdered. An eyewitness identified you as the killer," Wang Yu said.

Hearing this, Ye Qian couldn't help but laugh. If Wang Yu's words were true, then someone was clearly framing him. He couldn't think of who it might be, but whoever it was, they underestimated him. It was easy to prove whether he had killed anyone.

"Zhao Xie?" Ye Qian murmured, recalling that he was Lin Rou Rou's classmate's boyfriend. He had given him a kick at the Drunken Bar. "Why would I kill him?" Ye Qian said helplessly.

"You know why," Wang Yu replied. "Where were you at 1 a.m. last night?"

"At home sleeping, of course," Ye Qian said.

"Can anyone verify that?" Wang Yu asked.

Ye Qian thought about it. He was with Zhao Tianhao at the time, but since someone was framing him, he wanted to lure out the person behind it. After a brief silence, he said, "No, I'm single." He looked at Wang Yu suggestively, as if saying, "I'm single, interested?"

Seeing Ye Qian's lecherous look and recalling what he did to her at the police station, Wang Yu felt a surge of anger. Since that day, she couldn't get this scoundrel out of her mind. When she returned to the station today, the chief ordered her to arrest Ye Qian quickly and said if he resisted, he could be shot on sight. Wang Yu was shocked and worried for Ye Qian. She knew the chief well enough to realize that this sudden toughness meant higher-ups had given a strict order.

On the way, Wang Yu thought about how to save Ye Qian but didn't know how to say it when she saw him. Instead of being grateful, Ye Qian made things difficult, making Wang Yu feel wronged. She couldn't just say, "Don't worry, I won't let anything happen to you." That would be too embarrassing.

Wang Yu had her reasons for not wanting to use force, but Yang Wei didn't share her restraint. Despite Ye Qian having a district police chief for a brother, the mayor himself had ordered his arrest. Yang Wei saw this as an opportunity. If Ye Qian resisted, he had the pretext to shoot him, just as the chief had subtly implied. Yang Wei knew the person behind Ye Qian's frame-up was far more powerful, and doing this job well could ensure his own rise.

Thinking this, Yang Wei didn't hesitate. He stepped forward, glaring at Ye Qian and yelled, "Cut the crap and come with us!" He reached out to grab Ye Qian.

Ye Qian didn't move, standing there with a cold expression. Yang Wei grabbed his collar but couldn't budge him. When he saw Ye Qian's icy stare, like a sword ready to strike, he shuddered. "Let go of me," Ye Qian said coldly.

Despite feeling a bit apprehensive, Yang Wei's courage was bolstered by his gun. He wanted Ye Qian to resist, giving him the excuse to kill him. Still, he reluctantly let go and said, "A suspect daring to be so arrogant. Are you trying to resist arrest?"

"I want to know if you're inviting me to assist in the investigation or arresting me. If it's the latter, show me the warrant. If not, get lost," Ye Qian said.

"Haha, you think this is some Hong Kong cop movie? A warrant? You're a suspect, and we have the right to detain and interrogate you," Yang Wei sneered.

Ye Qian chuckled coldly. "This isn't a cop movie, it's a hero's journey." With that, he kicked Yang Wei hard, sending him flying. The other officers, shocked, drew their guns on Ye Qian, ready to shoot if he made another move.

Wang Yu hadn't expected Ye Qian to resist violently and worried for him. She glanced at her colleagues and said, "Put your guns away!"

Ye Qian smiled lightly, unaffected by the situation. "Those toy guns should be put away," he said, considering the .38 caliber revolvers child's play.

Seeing Ye Qian still challenging her, Wang Yu stomped her foot in frustration, cursing him inwardly.

Yang Wei, enduring the pain, struggled to his feet, looking like a crazed rooster. He drew his gun and charged at Ye Qian. "Yang Wei, stop!" Wang Yu shouted in alarm. But Yang Wei didn't listen. He wanted revenge for the humiliation and saw this as the perfect opportunity.

"If you touch him, I'll make sure you don't live to see another day," a cold voice suddenly cut through the tension. Everyone turned to see who had spoken.
