Journey to the Ancient Battlefield 1

'So the Bastion Fruit is in the Misty Forest.' Leo observed again, revisiting the map in his head. Thanks to his high intelligence, he had memorized the entire map perfectly.

He had ventured more than a hundred miles in three days, while on horseback, heading for the Ancient Battlefield. The Misty Forest was along the way, and according to a reliable source, a fruit called the Bastion fruit existed there which could boost the bodies of even Warlocks greatly.

For the past three days, he had not encountered even a single Aberration.

Leo spotted the outline of a town about a mile away, and rode straight towards it to retire for the evening.

...

Early the next morning, Leo continued on his journey. He was already close to his destination, and within the next few days, he would reach it.

He was currently in the Misty Forest, which was at the border of the Shining Sun Empire. He had already sold off his horse in the previous town, as a horse wouldn't be able to navigate the thick forest he was soon to enter.

Of course, there was a main path cutting through the forest, but Leo was prepared to find the Bastion Fruit.

Leo walked for more than half an hour, as his surrounding greenery gradually increased.

A small green snake leapt from the top of a tree towards Leo, but the instant it reached him, a cold light flashed.

It lay on the ground in two halves, deader than dead.

'This forest would be deadly for normal people.'

Leo thought as he cu tdown the shrubs in his path.

Suddenly, he stopped and his eyes narrowed slightly.

'Someone is following me!'

With a few leaps, he reached the top of a nearby tree.

As a special forces soldier in his past life, he was well versed in all forms of tracking and counter-tracking, not to mention his heightened senses, so it was easy to discover that he was being followed.

A few moments later, a masked man came out of the bushes and stood in his original position, looking around in vigilance and slight confusion.

"D*mn! He escaped." The man cursed under his breath. Just as he lifted his foot and was about to search for Leo, a figure dropped down from above.

"DIE!"

With a cold flash, a masked head flew into the air, its headless body slowly dropping to its knees. The ambush came too quickly, not giving the man any time to react.

Leo landed on the ground and heaved.

Checking the man's identity, it turned out to be Lombard.

"Serves you right for messing with me." Leo sneered.

However, this confirmed another speculation of his.

As a martial artist, he was sensitive to the breath of living things.

However, Warlocks didn't have this strength, even though they were more perceptive than other people.

This was a huge advantage, that made a difference in the case of assassinations and related matters.

Without further ado, he continued his search for the Bastion Fruit, being conscious enough to leave marks and prevent getting lost.

About half an hour later, he reached a hill. A special fragrance filled the air, and he felt a premonition.

Reaching the summit, he saw a half meter tall plant, bearing a jade like fruit with blue veins and red veins running across the entire length of it.

"Great. I can't believe I actually found them so easily." Leo laughed heartily.

[A/N: Protagonist Halo, baby!]

Leo walked towards the plant, but when he neared them, he suddenly sensed something and somersaulted backwards. A part of the ground the was previously standing on was bitten off as a red snake revealed itself.

The snake was incredibly ferocious, being more than ten meters in length, and was as thick as a human waist.

There was a faint bulge on its head, and it revealed a mouth full of serrated teeth.

Even before the descent of the descent of the Outer World Devils, this planet had super-species that were native to it. According to Leo's knowledge, the snake in front of him was probably comparable to a normal Tier Two Aberration.

*HISS*

The snake bit at him, leaving a red streak in the air.

A blurry shadow appeared again, around Leo, but it didn't have much suppressive effect on the snake.

Leo shifted his hand, and his sword clashed with a snake's head. He was pushed a few steps back, while the snake landed on the floor in a daze, obviously injured by the vibration passed into its body, and a large cut appeared on its head.

Taking the opportunity, Leo slashed at it again, finally cutting off its head.

After killing the snake, Leo began to harvest the Bastion Fruit, but he was interrupted by some voices.

"Don't worry, Phyla, I remember seeing the Fruit here a few days ago, so... Wait, who are you?!"
