Prologue (part 1)

It was February 10, 1880, the day of wealth, and a grand ball was held at the municipal hall of Manila to celebrate a glamorous occasion. As per usual, only the wealthy were invited to come and show off. However, the word didn't go unnoticed by the public. It became the talk of the town. From the high class of Intramuros to the poorest alleyways of Tondo.

The host of the ball was the beloved mayor, Sir Santiago Delos Reyes. Santiago Delo Reyes was loved by many, but not by those below him or in his position. He was not loved by the commoners due to his debatable decision-making skills and questionable yet annoying attitude. He was also known to be random at times, lazy, and too demanding.

Tonight, the municipal wall is filled with lights and pompous guests. Dressing in gowns and suits filled with jewelry and heels to match the height of their arrogance.

A lot of the guests were conversing with one another, but only one group stood out. It was the table where numerous priests and the gobernador heneral, mayor, together with other foreign officials, sat.

"Ridiculous! "A priest, Priest Nicholas, exclaimed loudly, catching the attention of the nearby onlookers.

"Why are you saying such things? Lord Santiago certainly increased the security!" "Indeed, I have, Father Nicholas. I wouldn't want Isadora to be in here after all. Such a thief from the shadows did not deserve to see gold and riches or even feel them. I have stationed all of the civil guards, so I am proudly sure that Isadora can't come in undetected." Santiago said rather smugly.

The Gobernador Heneral applauded Santiago before saying his praises.

"Amazing idea sir Santiago. I'm expecting that we will be feeling safe within the establishment." Santiago beamed before nodding with a big smile.

"Of course, anything for his majesty!"As the others laughed, enjoying the festivities of the ball, a priest was silent at the end of their table. Santiago took notice of this and asked the priest "Why are so silent, Father Francis?"

The said priest, Father Francis, looked at him indifferently. "No reason, mayor. I'm merely thinking about the incident of Isadora."Santiago laughed before offering a glass of wine to Father Francis. "Hahaha! With our security, we, the elites will be fine, Friar! Isadora will be nothing but an ant if she dares to come close to us!"Father Francis was silent for a moment before begrudgingly accepting the wine offered to him. He offered a strained smile to Santiago.

But unbeknownst to them, this ball, these grand celebrations, and their constant blindness and failure to acknowledge the problem will soon bring them down to the deepest pits of hell.

A pair of ears enjoyed hearing their laughter as they knew that soon, their laughter would turn into screams begging for forgiveness."They truly are fools. "The festivities continue for the rest of the night, but unbeknownst to them, their enemy is much closer and entertained at their naivety than they expected them to be.
