A Trust Betrayed

Amaka's mother, Mrs. Okoro, sat in the living room, her eyes fixed on the piece of paper in her hand. It was the escape plan Amaka had shared with her, the plan to leave her father's abusive grasp and start anew. Mrs Okoro's heart raced as she struggled with the weight of her decision.

Should she protect her daughter's safety or remain loyal to her husband? The question echoed in her mind like a mantra.

With a heavy heart, Mrs. Okoro made her choice. She walked into her husband's study, the paper trembling in her hand. "Amaka plans to leave us," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Amaka's father, Mr. Okoro, looked up from his desk, his eyes narrowing. "What are you talking about?"

Mrs. Okoro handed him the paper, her eyes cast down. "This was hidden under her bed. She plans to escape with Nneoma's help."

Amaka's father's face darkened with rage. "That ungrateful child," he muttered, his fists clenched.

Amaka felt betrayed when she discovered her mother had revealed her secret. She had trusted her, confided in her, and this was how she repaid that trust? By siding with the man who had made their lives a living hell?

The rift between Amaka and her mother grew wider, the silence between them deafening. Amaka knew she had to act fast, to escape before her father's wrath consumed her completely. But how could she trust anyone now? Even her mother had failed her.ReplyForwardAdd reaction
