Chapter 8: The Truth Revealed
James arrived at Jake's house, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. He had never met Jake's mom before, and he wasn't sure what to expect.
As they walked in, Jake's mom greeted them with a warm smile. "Hey, James! It's great to finally meet you."
James felt a sense of relief at her kindness. "Nice to meet you too, Mrs... um, Jake's mom," he stuttered.
Jake chuckled. "Mom, James is a bit nervous. Go easy on him."
Jake's mom laughed. "Don't worry, James. I promise I won't bite... unless you're a pineapple pizza fan. Then we might have a problem."
James laughed, feeling more at ease. But as they sat down for dinner, he noticed something strange. Jake's mom kept glancing at him with a curious expression, like she was trying to figure something out.
Suddenly, she spoke up. "James, can I ask you something?"
"Sure," James replied, his heart beating a bit faster.
"How do you know Jake's real name?" she asked, her eyes narrowing slightly.
James' mind raced. What did she mean? He thought back to their conversations, realizing that Jake had never actually told him his last name.
"Uh, I... I don't know," James admitted, feeling a bit embarrassed.
Jake's mom exchanged a knowing glance with her son. "James, there's something we need to tell you," Jake said, his voice serious.
And with that, Jake revealed his true identity, leaving James stunned and wondering what else he didn't know about the boy he loved.
Jake took a deep breath before continuing. "James, my real name is Jacob Edward Lee. And my mom isn't just any mom - she's a famous actress, and I'm her son."
James' eyes widened in shock. "What?! Why didn't you tell me?"
Jake shrugged. "I wanted to protect you from the chaos that comes with my life. I wanted us to have a normal relationship, without the paparazzi and the fame getting in the way."
James felt like his world was turned upside down. He couldn't believe that Jake had kept this secret from him.
"But why now?" James asked, feeling a mix of emotions. "Why tell me now?"
Jake's eyes locked onto his. "Because I trust you, James. And I want us to be honest with each other, no matter what."
James' heart raced as he processed this new information. He didn't know what to say or how to feel.
Just then, Jake's mom spoke up. "James, we want you to know that we're happy to have you in our lives. And we hope that you'll stay with us, despite the craziness that comes with our family."
James looked at Jake, then at his mom, and saw the sincerity in their eyes. He took a deep breath and made a decision.
"I'm staying," James said, his voice firm. "I'm staying because I love Jake, and I love your family. And I'm not going to let fame or paparazzi get in the way of our relationship."
Jake's face lit up with a smile, and he pulled James into a tight hug. "Thank you, James. Thank you for being my rock."
And with that, James knew that their relationship was strong enough to face anything that came their way.
