Ruth scoured her drawers for a flashlight and a baseball bat which her younger brother gave to her as a gift on her birthday when she turned twelve last summer, only to find it lying inside one of the old cartons stacked below some of her clothes hung inside her closet. She had decided to go against the odds to help save the animal trapped in the garden believing that the predator had somehow left the vicinity in the same manner it had slipped into the garden even though it meant putting herself at a greater risk. At first thought, she left her room to her parent’s bedroom thinking it would be best to let his dad handle this kind of affair that was meant for grownups but she changed her mind when she was just a few metres away from their door.
