SOUR TURN

I had a Chronicle, no not a diary or journal. I called it my Chronicle...I'm not a nerd or girl. It was my most trusted ally, my confidant, my partner in crime, it held my deepest fears and darkest secrets - even the dirtiest and darkest ones. It's been with me since I was six, and let me tell you, it's seen some stuff. The first few pages are filled with squiggles and gibberish that even I can't decipher now, but as I grew older, it became my go-to spot for dumping my thoughts, fears, and secrets. The good, the bad, and the ugly - it's all in there. I updated it almost daily, sometimes thrice a week, depending on how crazy life got.

This week was a doozy, so I was stoked to have a chill Saturday ahead of me. But, of course, famous people don't get days off? Fiona hit me up with another party invite, and I couldn't say no, even though I was dying to. I mean, how does she do it? Throw party after party, without ever seeming to tire? Don't get me wrong, parties are cool and all, but when do you get time for yourself? Time to veg out, read a book, or have a gaming marathon? I was secretly hoping this party wouldn't be like Kimberly's - you know, the ones that end in mourning and torture. Please, no more drama!

I quickly got ready and went straight to Fiona's. I do have to admit I liked her house more than Kimberly's. Why? Because well, to keep it sweet it had life. It was the average teen party with food, gaming, dance and fun. You know, just the average. The only thing that caught my attention was some older kids lurking around. I had no clue who they were or how Fiona knew them, but they were a whole different thing altogether. I was sure they weren't from my school, they gave me bad vibes. They kept on puffing cigarettes and smoking something, exhaling smoke rings that made my nose wrinkle in distaste. I mean what's the thrill in inhaling smoke and exhaling it like a freaking human kettle? All the other kids were entranced, but I was not having it. I should've been curious about stuff like this at my age, but come on! Nah man. And despite I was that guy everyone was all over and all, they asked I joined their smokefest but I politely declined. Good thing about me is that, the word peer pressure doesn't exist in my dictionary. Begging me or even skinning yourself alive isn't gonna make me do something I don't wanna. Well unless you threaten me with a gun or something. Then I'm all yours!

After that, everything was going smoothly until some goofballs from my class spoke about my mom in ways that made my blood boil.

"The library is going to be lit on Monday!" Nathan said, licking his God forsaken lips.

"Lit? When did you start liking libraries?" Marcus asked and the others burst into laughter. "And that's why you'll always be the most boring dude in REDSFIELD. Chester's mother is going to start working there. Man have you seen her? She's so fucking hot. Endowed in all the right places I'm I right guys?" Nathan asked, his utterances sounding more like a statement than it did a question.

My jaw dropped, and I almost swallowed my heart. How did they know? No not that she's hot but how did they know she got the job?

"I bet guys are gonna line up just to see her, just look up her pictures on the school page." Nathan continued.

"Ew!" Marcus exclaimed, "dude she's someone's mother!" Nathan laughed, then licked his lower lip, it was totally disgusting. "I can be her daddy if she want me to..."

That was it! I couldn't take it anymore. A blood-curdling scream ripped out of my throat, as his words kept echoing in my mind like a toxic mantra. "I could be her daddy if she want me to, I could be her daddy if she want me to, Icouldbeherdaddyifshewantmeto." I felt my face contort in rage, my eyes blazing with fury. I pushed him against the wall, my elbow digging into his throat, my fingers clenched into a tight fist. I wanted to strangle him right there and then, to erase those vile words from his mouth.

The music came to a halt, and before I knew it, we were surrounded by a circle of gawking kids, their eyes wide with excitement and curiosity. "What's wrong?"

"Let him go!"

"Why are they fighting?" they chorused, their voices like a cacophony of idiocy. Most of them began to stream us on their phones, their cameras capturing every moment of the drama. Marcus, the idiot, yeah I don't even know why I'm calling him idiot when he did nothing wrong, began to explain what led to the altercation, his words dripping with smugness. "Well, it's not as if he lied!" one of them chimed in, their voice filled with sarcasm. I felt a searing pain in my chest, like a dagger twisting in my heart. "I heard she's Brazilian, you know all those Brazilian girls!" another one snickered.

I was consumed by anger, my mind reeling with the injustice of it all. How could they be so cruel, so heartless? I felt as if I was on fire! Didn't they know that words could hurt, that they could leave scars that would last a lifetime? I felt like I was going to explode.

Fuck you universe!

"Shut your fucking mouths!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, my voice echoing off the walls like a thunderclap. "All of you!" I spat. Sweat began to drip down my forehead, trickling down my nose and chin, as I stood there, my chest heaving with exertion. And still, they kept filming me, capturing every moment of my meltdown, like vultures feasting on my distress. I mean like come on, show the world you've met a psychopath that's in love with his mother!

I felt like a maniac, my mind reeling with anger and frustration. I let go of Nathan, my hands shaking with rage, and walked out of the room, ignoring Fiona's desperate calls. "Chester, no! Please come back! Do you know what this will cause?" she cried, her voice shrill with panic. But I knew she didn't care about what Nathan had said. All she cared about was her precious party, her reputation, her social standing. It was all about what others could offer her, what she could gain from them. If you couldn't offer anything, if you were useless to her, then you were nothing.
