It was a bright day. I was in the hospital ward alone trying to put things together in my brain. I really needed to plan well as I'll be discharged from the hospital. I don't want to get caught when I haven't accomplished my goal. It will be a great loss.
"Amiyah...." Liam called as softly as always. I could tell it was him from his tender voice. He was still holding the door and I could only see half of his body.
"And you are?" I said sitting up from the bed with a soft grunt. My body is sore because I didn't walk for almost a month.
By the time, he came into the room and sat on the bed. He watched as I dilated my eyes trying hard not to look into his.
"Are you okay?" He asked as I was about to jump from the bed. I stood still.
"Sit" Liam tapped on the bed and I sat weirdly beside him.
"I heard about your condition..."
"Who are you?" I asked again, making this pretence look real.
"I'm Liam Jamie. You transferred to my college recently" he informed me.
"No wrong question. Who are you to me? I doubt an ordinary one day college mate will come all the way here just to see me..." My voice was full disbelief, somehow edging towards mockery.
"We dated. I am your ex boyfriend" He informed, sadly. I was happy to see how honest he was with me but sad at the same time for unknown reasons. It was as if I wanted him to lie so we will continue our relationship. I still had some unexplainable feelings left for him. I wanted to know why everything that happened happened.
"Was I the one who ended it?"
"Yes"
"Why?"
"Don't let us talk about that. You're supposed to be discharged today. Your grandma has done all the paper work so lets hit the road"
"We have drivers, why you?"
"Your grandma wanted someone reliable"
"Does she trust you that much?" I didn't know why Grandma left me in his care.
"Yes she does. Lets go home, Miya" He patted my hand, calmly.
"Home?" I smiled bitterly at that word. After my parent death, I had no home. I couldn't leave with my grandma because she lived faraway in a remote city so I stayed with Uncle's family who tormented me endlessly. And killed my mum and dad!
I was mad at myself for not seeing the face behind their masks. How can I be so stupid?
And when I got the chance to finally leave. I lived with my bestie. Life became a little better for me before this accident. Grandma insisted I stayed in Uncle's but it will be for a while I can't stand them. I'll try finding evidence for their crimes and put them behind bars, I thought.
"My bag?" I woke up from my stream of consciousness.
"You have a new maid. She will be the one to pack your things later for now lets go"
"A new maid?" I won't be needing this.
"Why didn't grandma come by herself?" I asked again, adamantly.
"She had something very important to do" he replied, politely.
"Okay" I responded like a respectful seven year old. After three and half weeks in the hospital, I was discharged courtesy of Liam.
It was a pleasant drive. The traffic was light. The sun was bright.
