Chapter 8

Damn, damn, damn it! I really have to doubt this unfounded confidence of mine! I want to leave, but that's almost impossible to do. My brother—Nick Salazar—won't let me go just like that, especially since even without using Beast, he's much stronger than me. Damn it!

The die is cast. I can't turn back time. Damn it! I'll win this no matter what.

"Brother ... why don't you show your mighty Beast’s strength? Shouldn't you be proud to use it after killing our parents to get it?" I intentionally provoked while keeping my distance. But, I doubted that this cheap provocation would anger my brother.

"Huh. Do you think your brother can be easily provoked, Ars?" Nick responded in a flat and calm tone, just as I expected. He paused for a moment and then continued, "How about this? I'll let you live and even beat up anyone you want me to, but let me take your friend."

I smiled faintly and replied without much thought, "Sorry, brother, but I wouldn't have done anything to the Nevaeh family if he hadn't asked me to. In short, I have no problem with those nobles."

Nick sighed. "That's very unfortunate then, Ars ...." Finally, Nick activated the power of his right eye.

As soon as Nick's eye emitted a blue light, a long golden dragon emerged from his body. I didn't expect him to have such a unique Beast. Furthermore, as far as I know, Beast Dragon is the strongest.

"As you requested, Ars," said Nick. "Before you say goodbye to the world, I want you to know my true strength, my sweet brother."

Meanwhile, Neville suddenly appeared and said, "I don't know who you are, what your name is, or what your relationship is with Ars. But, I want you to know that you're not the only one with a unique Beast!" Without hesitation, Neville summoned his Beast Thestral, boldly challenging Nick.

"I don't need your help, Neville!" I snapped.

"I know," replied Neville, staring straight ahead. "But, I can't let my friend die in front of me."

On the other hand, Nick Salazar didn't seem surprised to see Neville's Beast. Could it be that he already knew about Neville's Beast Thestral?

"The scrawny and malnourished creature can't defeat my great dragon," said Nick, showing off his golden Beast Dragon, which soared and prepared to attack.

However, shortly after, the hundred soldiers brought by Byron Nevaeh, including Byron Nevaeh himself, activated the power of their right eyes. In an instant, blue Beast Tigers surrounded Neville and me from all directions.

Remaining alert to all possibilities, I whispered, "Neville, can you handle them first while I hold off my brother?"

Honestly, although I have the power to destroy Beasts with a single touch, I wasn't sure this power could defeat my brother. I had to be very careful; one wrong move, and everything would fall apart.

Neville glanced at me briefly and then replied, "Alright, I'll take care of them as quickly as possible." He agreed without arguing with me. It's understandable because Neville had no personal grudge against my brother. He just wanted revenge on the Nevaeh family.

Sigh ... there's no point in hesitating anymore! I quickly dashed forward, attacking my brother with a horizontal swing of my sword. However, with no effort at all, his Beast Dragon immediately deflected my attack, breaking the sword in my hand.

"A person without a Beast like you can't defeat me, Ars," said Nick flatly, as if victory was already in his hands.

Even so, I didn't flinch, staring into his blue right eye with cloud-like patterns. Without hesitation, I launched a quick punch with my right hand.

I smiled faintly. As expected, he intended to repel me using his Beast. But, of course, he couldn't do that. The Beast Dragon slowly faded as if burning when it touched my body. Finally, after all this time, I could see my eldest brother's shocked face.

I landed a hard punch to his stomach, but he quickly retaliated with a vertical sword swing. However, I immediately jumped back, dodging perfectly.

"I didn't expect you to have such a strange power, Ars." Nick quickly deactivated the power of his right eye. "No wonder you aren't afraid to face Beasts." He seemed to have a slight understanding of my power.

Before I could answer, my vision suddenly darkened, accompanied by the hysterical screams of soldiers echoing in the forest. Neville seemed to have started getting serious.

As I expected, when my eyes could see normally again, the hundred soldiers brought by Byron Nevaeh were now dead, leaving Byron Nevaeh alone. I didn't know whether Neville intentionally spared that noble or not.

"That damn Byron seems to be protected by something," Neville whispered. "But I don't know what it is."

"It seems that's my brother's doing," I replied, seeing Byron Nevaeh immediately hiding behind Nick.

"Hahaha. Interesting! I'm impressed with your abilities, Ars!" Nick said. "How about we work together and conquer the Dolores Kingdom?"

"Sigh ... sorry, but I'm not interested in troublesome things like that. Do it yourself if you can." I knew I was consumed by anger and a desire for revenge, but I had no intention of calming down.

"If that's the case, you must die today." Once again, Nick activated the power of his right eye, summoning his Beast Dragon. "I hope you don't regret your foolish decision, Ars."

With just one stiff motion, Nick could shake the ground, making lightning immediately rumble and strike directly at me. Fortunately, Neville still managed to block the lightning attack using his Beast Thestral, saving me.

Neville and I quickly retreated a few steps. However, the ground continued to tremble as more lightning struck from the sky. Damn it ... I was completely paralyzed by him.

"Ars, hide behind me." Neville immediately decided to take over my fight with my brother. "Your brother clearly keeps his distance so that you can't touch his Beast."

"No!" I firmly rejected it. "He's my prey! You just fight Byron Nevaeh."

"Sorry, Ars, but now I disagree." This time Neville insisted on fighting my brother, even though he had no grudge against him. "This fight is on a different level! This is a battle between unique Beast users!"

I knew Neville was right. With my current strength, I could indeed burn any Beast with a single touch, but I couldn't burn the power of these unique Beasts, not yet. I seemed to have to admit that my strength was still not strong enough.

Pausing for a moment, I slowly took a deep breath and exhaled. Now I could be a little calmer. "You're right, Neville. I should think about how to win, not selfishly wanting to fight an opponent I can't defeat."

"Have you finished your useless conversation?" said Nick as his Beast Dragon immediately breathed fire from its mouth towards me and Neville. "If so, I will attack."

You should have said that before attacking, damn it! Neville and I responded and immediately jumped to the side, avoiding sudden death.
