CHAPTER 18: FAMILY PRIVILEGES.
Gomez was driven to the station by one of his men immediately he got the call from the patrol officer.
Arriving the station, the driver parked the SUV and Gomez quickly alighted from the vehicle, walking straight into the station gallantly.
Some of the officers at the station gave Gomez derogatory and disdainful stares. But he couldn't care less. Rather, he walked on unintimidated.
Gomez made his way to the office of the chief of police. Walking there, he sighted Justin in a cell on the right hand side. They both exchanged looks, saying nothing to the other.
He also saw the officer that had called him. They nonverbally greeted each other with a nodded, as he walked to the office. The officer quickly followed after Gomez into the office.
Justin carefully observed all that transpired, taking note of them. He sighed in relief, waiting to soon be released from that holding cell.
A few minutes later, Justin saw the officer walking out of the office looking gloomy and disappointed. He smirked, relishing in the fact that the officer was sorely disappointed.
The officer grudgingly got the keys to the cell and unlocked it.
"Seems like you've got friends in high places huh?" the officer said, as he swung open the cell door, ushering Justin out.
Justin stood up and walked out, saying nothing.
"Come get your stuff," he told Justin.
Justin followed him and received back the items they had gotten from him, which included his cell phone, wallet, car key, and belt.
Gomez also left the office, and joined Justin.
"Got all your stuff?" he asked.
"Yeah," Justin replied.
"Good. Let's get going," Gomez said, gesturing that Justin takes the lead. He then nodded at the officer, acknowledging his cooperation, and walked out of the station too.
As Justin got to the main entrance of the station, he crossed paths with Detective Savannah. She had just arrived from Long Island with her partner.
For a brief moment, they both stared right into each other's faces. Justin then broke eye contact with her, facing forward as he headed to the SUV he recognized as Gomez's.
Detective Savannah then bumped into Gomez, as she hadn't been paying attention to what was ahead of her.
"Oh! Am sorry," she apologized, stepping away.
Gomez just grunted, and walked away, meeting Justin.
Detective Savannah watched Justin get into the car and they drove off together.
"Isn't that Newton Bishop's man?" Riley asked.
"Yeah, that's him," she replied.
"And who was the other obviously handsome young man with him?" Riley asked again.
"I have no idea," Detective Savannah replied, as she walked further into the station, making a mental note to ask about Justin.
She walked up to the very officer that had booked Justin.
"Hey. Those folks, the man in the black suit and the younger man, what did they come to do here?" Detective Savannah asked hastily.
"Um, he was arrested for over speeding, and the man in suit got him out, having spent some time in the chief's office," he replied.
"Hmm, I see," she pondered.
"Anything the matter detective?" he asked.
"No, it's nothing. Thanks for your help," she appreciated, walking away.
She got to her desk and sat in her chair, sighing, as she reasoned.
__________
"Thanks, for coming for me," Justin appreciated Gomez.
"Anytime," he replied. "But all this would have been avoided if you just stayed home."
"Yeah, I know," Justin replied.
"It's alright. I'll take you home. One of the men will be sent to get your car later as soon as possible."
"Alright," Justin replied, trying to get into the left side of the car.
"Tsk tsk tsk," Gomez refrained Justin. "Over here."
"Oh, right," Justin remarked, as he switched positions, sitting at the right side of the car, and they drove off.
___________
The doorbell of the Adams residence rang. But no one answered, although the kids were back from school and were in the living room.
The person behind the door rang the doorbell a second time, and more aggressively. But the kids still ignored the door.
"Julie, go get the door," Mrs Adams instructed her daughter.
"Let Geoffrey go get it," the rudely retorted, hissing as she frowned.
"Geoffrey, go get the door," Mrs Adams requested.
He angrily slammed his pen on to the table, pulling Julie's hair in revenge, as he stumped his way to the door and unlocked it.
"I hate you!" Julie screamed, angrily at Geoffrey, but he ignored her.
"Hey kiddo," Joey said excitedly, stretching out his hamds for a hug, but Geoffrey turned away, ignoring him, as he got his books and walked to his room, locking the door.
"Okay..." Joey shoved Geoffrey's behavior aside and walked in with is bag, accompanied by Samantha.
"Hey mom," he called out.
"Over here," Mrs Adams said out loud from the kitchen.
Julie excitedly rushed and hugged Samantha.
"Hey Julie," Samantha smiled, 'I got you something."
"You did? Lemme see, lemme see," she impatiently requested.
"I'll show you after dinner, okay? It's an only girls stuff. The boys don't have to know about it," Samantha whispered in her ears.
"Okay," Julie whispered back, giggling.
"Hey mom," Joey kissed his mother on the cheeks. "Mm, the kitchen smells amazing."
"Yeah. Anything for the best son in the world."
"Aww, you're the best mom in the world," Joey said, hugging his mother.
"Hello Mrs Adams," Samantha greeted.
"Hey sweetie. Why don't you come help me out as I round this up."
"Sure."
Not long after, dinner was ready and the table was set. Everyone took their seats, except one.
"Where's Geoffrey?" Mr Adams asked.
"Probably holed up in his room, as usual," Julie replied, rolling her eyes disdainfully.
"He's been this grumpy since the last time you were here," Mrs Adams said.
"Speaking of which, has anyone heard from Justin?" Mr Adams asked.
"Who cares. I'm glad that dead weight's out of our lives, for good," Mrs Adams replied.
"No one is more glad than I am. Isn't that right babe?" Joey Samantha, grabbing her thighs.
"Sure," she replied, forcing a smile on her face.
"Let me go find that little rascal out of his room. Be right back," Joey stood up and went upstairs.
Seeing that he left his phone, Samantha subtly but quickly grabbed his phone, and scrolled through his messages. She found a text he sent to a number, with the address of a motel fifteen minutes away from the house.
Samantha sulked, seeing that text, but she concealed her anger and displeasure.
Joey returned and sat down, sighing.
"What happened?" Mr Adams asked.
"When he's hungry, he'll come get his food," Joey said.
"When will he get over Justin? He's not part of this family," Mrs Adams said frustratedly.
"Justin can never amount to anything. He'll always be underneath us. Underneath me," Joey smirked boastfully, as they began eating their dinner.
Joey smiled at Samantha, and she smiled back, hiding what she was scheming within her.
