Story 9: The Phantom Guest

I had booked a room at a famous hotel, hoping for a comfortable stay. After arriving, I took a shower to wash off the travel dust and then laid down on the bed, exhausted. Soon, I fell into a deep sleep.

In the middle of the night, a noise awakened me. I switched on the light and looked around the room. The noise seemed to be coming from outside the window. The window was closed, and someone was scratching its glass. Surprised, I approached the window and opened it, letting in a rush of wind. The noise ceased.

As I turned back to my bed, to my horror, there stood a beautiful girl wearing a nightdress, torn in many places. She approached me, pleading, "Please help me, they will kill me, please." Shocked, I asked her how she got in. When she realized I wasn't listening, she attacked me. Terrified, I pushed her back, but she dissipated into smoke.

I ran outside, opening the door, but she was already there before me. I headed towards the lift, but it was switched off. I ran towards the stairs, only to find her ahead of me again, horribly. Standing on the fifth floor, I raced down the stairs. When I reached the second floor, the hotel manager stopped me. I told him everything, but he laughed and said it was just a dream.

He escorted me back to my room, where everything appeared normal. He asked about the smoke and found my cigarette nearby, fining me for misusing the room.
