Story 44: The Scarecrow's Vengeance

Ethan Parker stood at the edge of his family's cornfield, the cold autumn wind rustling through the golden stalks. The moon hung low in the sky, casting an eerie glow over the landscape. The scarecrow, meant to protect the crops, now loomed menacingly, its glowing eyes watching over the field with a sinister intensity.

It had been a difficult year for Ethan. The crops had withered, and the animals had fallen sick. The villagers whispered about a curse, but Ethan refused to believe in such superstitions. Desperation, however, forced him to seek out Old Man Gregory, who lived on the outskirts of the village.

"The scarecrow," Gregory began, his voice a gravelly whisper, "was crafted from the remains of an old warlock who cursed this land. It is said that on nights like this, under the full moon, he returns to seek vengeance."
