Story 156: The Misty Encounter

The night was eerily silent as Sarah rowed her small boat across the mist-covered lake. She had always found solace in the quiet waters, but tonight felt different. The fog was thicker than usual, and an unsettling chill hung in the air.

As she paddled further from the shore, a sense of dread began to creep over her. The mist seemed to close in, swallowing the world around her. She could barely see a few feet ahead, and the only sound was the gentle lapping of water against the boat.

Suddenly, the boat jolted to a stop. Sarah's heart raced as she looked around, trying to see what had caused the disturbance. Her eyes widened in horror as a dark, humanoid figure emerged from the fog. It stood tall, with elongated arms that hung limply at its sides. Tendrils dripped from its body, swaying with each movement.
