Story 546: The Reactor’s Curse

The dim glow of the reactor bathed the containment lab in an unnatural green light. The air was thick with radiation, and each breath felt like swallowing embers. The hum of the reactor grew louder as if alive, pulsing with energy that seeped into the walls. The team stood in silence for a moment, taking in the haunting scene.

“This place reeks of death,” Jenna muttered, her flamethrower held tightly.

“No kidding,” Derek added, keeping his shield raised. “Whatever that thing is, it’s keeping those freaks outside amped up.”

Ethan’s voice crackled through their comms. “Careful, team. That reactor’s output is off the charts. You’ve got to disable it, but one wrong move could level the entire zone.”

Marcus stepped forward, his shotgun at the ready. “Brain, give me options.”

“There’s a control panel to your left,” Ethan replied, scanning blueprints on his tablet. “If you can access it, you might be able to overload the system and force a shutdown.”
