Story 579: The Awakening Graves

The call came at midnight—an urgent SOS from the outskirts of the city. Survivors reported unsettling noises near the old cemetery, followed by the ground shaking and the faint sound of chains rattling beneath the earth. ZETU mobilized immediately, their armored vehicles slicing through the cold, moonlit streets.

Captain Marcus Kane briefed the team en route. “The graveyard is massive and uncharted in parts. We stick together. No one ventures alone.”

The team arrived at the cemetery, greeted by an eerie sight: dozens of skeletal figures rising from freshly disturbed graves. Each skeleton was bound with heavy iron chains, their hollow eye sockets glowing faintly under the starlit sky. They sat in open graves as if awaiting orders, their movements unnervingly synchronized.

“What in the hell…?” Riley “Quick Shot” Bennett muttered, her sniper rifle poised.

“They’re chained,” Derek “Shield” Coleman observed. “It’s almost like they were… restrained.”
