The metal door buckled inward, shrieking under the relentless assault of clawed hands and writhing tendrils. Mia braced herself, rifle aimed at the weakening barricade, sweat dripping down her temple.
“We can’t stay here!” she barked.
Leon was already searching for an exit. “There’s a service tunnel ahead!” He motioned toward a rusted maintenance hatch barely visible under debris.
Evelyn swallowed hard. Behind them, the tunnel trembled under the sheer force of the beast. A guttural growl reverberated through the air, deep and unnatural. It wasn’t just any monster. It was evolving.
The door finally gave way.
What stood before them wasn’t like the others.
A grotesque fusion of muscle and madness, its bulging brain was fully exposed, pulsating with unnatural energy. It had no eyes, only hollow sockets that wept black ichor. Its jaw split wide, revealing a slithering tongue, jagged with serrated barbs.
Evelyn gasped. “It’s mutating…”
The creature charged.
