Story 875: The Stalker

The city ruins were silent—too silent.

Leon tightened his grip on his rifle as the team moved through the skeletal remains of a collapsed office building. The last encounter with the evolving Apex Spawn had left them shaken. If these creatures were adapting, how long before they became unstoppable?

A soft clicking sound echoed through the darkened corridor.

Reaper froze. “Did you hear that?”

Its jaw unhinged, revealing rows of serrated teeth.

Then, in an instant—it moved.
