One week later:

“Clara, I was really hoping for a vanilla cake for the wedding.”

She pouts.

“Well then, can we at least get the red velvet Cupcakes with the Ace of spades symbols on them?”

I smile at her.

“Absolutely.”

“Yes!”

Clara and I have been planning my wedding, and so far we are certain that it needs to be small and intimate, my father will both be walking me down the aisle and getting us married, since he has a license for it. Remi will be the flower girl, and it needs to be somewhere by the water since my mother loved being by the water.

“How many people are we inviting?” She asks as she makes notes.

“Just my father, Remi, you, Cameron, and Jackie. I don’t want people I don’t recognize at the wedding, for safety reasons, and because that would just feel strange.”

“Done. Now all that’s left to figure out is the wedding dresses, mine and Jackie’s dress, and Remi’s dress.”

I stand up excited.

“Let’s go to the bridal shop.”
