Before Cassandra knew it, over half a year had passed since her return to her body. Time had slipped away quietly, like the gentle flow of a river, and now her heart was completely at peace regarding her father. During meal times, they would always eat together, despite the Emperor being busy with his overwhelming workload. The initial uncomfortableness she had felt in their relationship had faded into oblivion, replaced by a warm familiarity that wrapped around them like a comforting shawl. In fact, their bond had transformed into something vibrant and nourishing, filled with shared laughter and camaraderie.
Even now, it was dinner time, and the father and daughter found themselves seated together at the grand, long table in the opulent dining room. The dining room, with its ornate chandeliers and richly adorned walls, was a stark contrast to the simple meals of her previous life. It had been a very busy day for the young princess, filled with lessons and other royal duties, although nothing could compare to the mountains of responsibilities that the Emperor faced daily.
"How have your lessons been going?" He inquired, his voice warm and encouraging. Despite already receiving detailed reports from her tutors, he still made it a point to ask her how she felt about her progress.
"I think they are going well." Cassandra replied with slight warmth over her mostly expressionless face. She always answered him honestly, and her enthusiasm was palpable. Her lessons had been going splendidly, aided by her memories of a past life, as well as her vivid foresight dreams. These experiences allowed her to grasp most of the foundational concepts that were being taught to her. For the things she didn't quite understand, her tutors explained them with patience and clarity. It was no wonder they had been chosen to teach her; they were not only knowledgeable but also adept at connecting with her unique learning style.
As she recounted her lessons from that day, sharing the topics that fascinated her and those that still puzzled her, she noticed how her father listened intently. He would often interject with insights, clarifying concepts that had initially eluded her understanding. This surprised her; it was almost as if he could intuitively discern the areas where she struggled. His ability to break down complex ideas into digestible pieces was a gift she had come to cherish.
The two of them continued their conversation, discussing their respective days. The Emperor, of course, refrained from mentioning anything classified or sensitive to the realm, but he did seek Cassandra's opinion on various matters, valuing her insight despite her youth. Any ordinary person wouldn't engage a child in such discussions, yet the Emperor was aware that she had past life experiences and the wisdom that came with them. This knowledge fostered a sense of mutual respect between them, creating an atmosphere where Cassandra felt empowered to express her thoughts freely. In this way, their relationship blossomed, fortified by shared moments of understanding and an unbreakable bond that transcended the limitations of their roles.
The meal had come to an end but the emperor was still sitting with Cassandra. "You'll be leaving the castle tomorrow, right?" The emperor had asked.
In the afternoon, after lessons and having lunch with her father, Cassandra was leaving the castle. It had been due to receiving a message through Lizzy from Baxter.
Since that day, one her free day Lizzy would meet her father in the building that served as a place for the servants and their families meet just outside the barrier around the castle. This building had been build after the attempt on Cassandra. It was to provent those that didn't possess a magic seal to enter the building. Only family were given the seal, that was placed on their hands which only appeared when they are first placed on them and when they are removed.
The request she came to ask for must have began moving allowing her to receive word that a large amount of information, part of that which Cassandra requested, was seeing results. This meant that it was time for the young princess to take the next steps to her plans.
However, she would need permission to leave to castle to see Baxter to continue.
"That's right. I'm going to my favourite restaurant." She answered, drinking the sweet tea that had been served by the servants.
Obviously her favourite restaurant was the same place which belonged to Baxter and served as their meeting place.
However, Cassandra wouldn't be the slightest bit surprised if the Emperor already knew that this restaurant was now transforming from an Assassin Guild to an Information Guild. He acted like he was unaware of her actions, but the man sitting before her wasn't human or moral. It would be easy for people to forget as he spends most of his time in human form, but he was a dragon created by a God and has lived for over a millennium.
Although, the princess was beginning to wonder when or if he would ever ask her about anything she was doing.
