Ren Ying bent over to pick up the spoils of this battle. He mumbled softly to himself, "The loser lost everything, including their lives, while the winners took everything, including the loser's lives, and had to bear the emotional feeling after it..."
First, he picked up both swords on the ground that were used during the battle between Liang Chen and Zhang Wei.
He inspected both weapons and found out that the sword used by Liang Chen was actually a two-star weapon. A weapon that was engraved with ancient letters that only a weapon engraver would know of.
While the weapon used by Zhang Wei was that of a normal one, without any ancient letters being engraved on it.
Ren Ying picked up both weapons, and struck them against each other in order to verify his assumption of Liang Chen's two-star weapon. Within a few clashes, Zhang Wei's ordinary looking sword showed signs of breaking apart. He stopped, as he had verified his guess.
"It seemed like my lack of good weapons had been resolved." Ren Ying happily placed it inside his space ring.
Then he turned to look at the Zhang Wei weapon, which was on the verge of breaking apart curiously as he asked himself, "How could this weapon go through a conflict against a two-star weapon without it being broken during the fight?
Ren Ying thought for a while, then he came to a conclusion. The weapon quality of Liang Chen and Zhang Wei wasn't that far apart, even though the Liang Chen weapon was engraved in ancient letters that could boost his weapon's sturdiness, but the material used to make it wasn't as good as that of the Zhang Wei weapon.
This resulted in both weapons being able to clash against each other without showing any sign of breaking apart. It could be considered that the Liang Chen weapon was in the lower tier of two-star weapons, while the Zhang Wei weapon was in the higher tier of one-star weapons.
Ren Ying could only look at Zhang Wei's broken weapon in regret, as he could sell it or exchange it on the market for some good stuff. But he knew that there was no point in crying over spilled milk, so he tossed it into his space ring as he continued to grab the space rings on the ground.
He peeked into Liang Chen and Zhang Wei space rings, and as expected, he saw a bunch of healing pills, cultivation-boosting pills, and lastly, the sword and wind cultivation manual and techniques.
"Sigh... What a disappointment." All of these cultivation techniques and manuals, except for the sword technique, had little use for him as a thunder-type cultivator; beside, he couldn't even sell or exchange it somewhere on the market in this region unless he wanted to be hunted down by his sect.
But at least he obtained a sword technique that he could practice now. Ren Ying skimmed through it and suddenly got an idea.
If he combined the sword technique with his self-created technique, thunder blending, which allowed him to blend his weapon with thunder-Qi, leaving an aftereffect after he attacked them such as burning, intense pain, and temporary paralysis, then his attacking capability would improve.
After he sorted out his gains from this battle and placed them carefully inside his space ring, he cleaned up the battle field, erasing any crucial evidence that could lead to him when someone came to investigate or happened to pass by here.
When he made sure that the battle scene looked like it had no connection with a thunder-type cultivator, Ren Ying ran away pretty quickly as he realized how long he had stayed in the scene, increasing the risk of someone seeing him there.
While on his way to the inhabitant of the Spiky Rabbit, he reflected on himself, 'I should've have left immediately after taking the battle spoils and cleaning up the battlefield...'
'It seemed like my carefulness on my previous planet wasn't enough for this world at all.' Ren Ying exhaled deeply in disappointment at himself, but soon his eyes turned determined as a new goal of improving his cautiousness formed inside his mind.
He kept on running normally without using his Thunder Trace so as to save his energies in case of an emergency. Ren Ying tried to stop as few as possible, with every stop being calculated precisely, giving no chance for anybody to ambush him.
...
Eventually, the sun dropped unhurriedly from its highest peak, radiating less aggressive and temperature illumination onto everything, whether alive or not, as if it were reminding that the moon would take over it soon, turning the chaotic and cheerful world full of battles into a calm, quiet world full of scheming and planning just like a calm before a great storm.
The shadow cast out from the tree and the Spiky Rabbits were growing fainter and fainter as the sun kept dropping; it made one wonder if anything that were 'your' truly existed, just like a shadow that could be taken away at will by the influence of the majestic sun unsurpassable by any being.
Behind one of those trees that stood proudly near the Spiky Rabbits that were jumping around and playing with each other, emerged Ren Ying silently without alerting the nearby Spiky Rabbits.
He looked at these somewhat cute creatures that had little to no lethality but were compensated by nature with their speed so as to ensure they could survive in the wilderness. The Spiky Rabbits features were closely identical to those of a normal rabbit on his planet, that one usually raised as a pet.
He observed their movement, which was described as hard-to-follow by the sect for a normal disciple, without much difficulty due to his special innate pupil.
Next, he took note of their extraordinary speed that most people couldn't catch up to. It was indeed quite fast for a lower rank 1 beast. Ren Ying shook his head as he admitted that the Spiky Rabbit speed was indeed abnormal.
Without the use of Thunder Trace, he was sure that the Spiky Rabbit would outrun him, and combined with their tricky movement and some little intelligence that they possessed, it would be impossible for him to complete this mission.
Ren Ying's emotion calmed down as he said with a relaxed tone, "Luckily, I have Thunder Trace; otherwise, I would be in so much trouble."
Thinking about the future trouble gave him a headache, but Ren Ying decided to stop stressing himself out over this and focused on his current situation.
He continued to watch over the Spiky Rabbit, just in case the one he observed was the weakest one. Fortunately, every Spiky Rabbit seems to possess a speed similar to each other, making Ren Ying worried for nothing.
Knowing that he could handle the mission easily, Ren Ying made up his mind to hunt the Spiky Rabbits later on, after he got his hand on the opportunity that had him go through a lot of life-changing things.
"Being in this world, changes is just a matter of time, so why not change now as I control my changes and get ready for the future?" He accepted the fact that changes were inevitable uncomfortably while his eyes wandered around on the spiky rabbits jumping around.
He took a deep breath and disappeared from the spot, heading for the Liang Chen opportunity next.
...
Eventually Ren Ying stopped running as he arrived in front of a cave.
He stood still, taking a heavy breath as he wiped the sweat beads flowing down from his forehead. His cloth was soaked in sweat; thus, it was clingy to his skin, making him quite uncomfortable.
He ignored it and looked up to the sky that was gradually getting darker and darker as the sun kept descending down on one side, while the moon made its appearance on the other.
The warm winds that flew and touched his face occasionally were getting colder, giving off a different lively vibe from the warm sunny breeze.
Ren Ying turned his attention from the sky to the surrounding area near the cave, to search for a safe place and set up his campfire and tent, as he planned to wait until the sun rises first before entering the cave.
He took out all of the stuff required for making a campfire. First he cleared out a spot on the ground next to him, then he picked up the rocks and arranged them in a circle responsible for keeping the wood burning.
Next, he placed the woods down in the middle of the rocks. as he proceeded to bring out the flint and steel to use it to ignite fire.
Ren Ying struck the steel and flint against each other, producing a metallic clink as a tiny spark appeared once in a while, echoing throughout the silent wilderness.
Then finally, he struck out a big spark that successfully set the woods on fire, exuding a warm light onto his face.
"Sigh... Seemed like I won't be shivering in my sleep tonight." Ren Ying smiled happily, as he wasn't expecting to successfully ignite a campfire for the first time at all.
