Mission 1: Arcane Knowledge Scroll

Zayde layed lifelessly on the ground, eyes wide and lifeless, glowing faintly in the dark.

With low growls escaping his lips as the memories continuously played in his head.

"Make it stop," He said for the hundredth time, throwing his hand over his face. He closed his eyes, the sounds and view taunting him like a horror filled movie.

[You enjoy killing but cannot handle mere Bedroom scene, Ridiculous]

"I can shut you down if I want to, I hope you know that"

[Unfortunately, Being a System, Oblivon has control over the Program]

"Control? Okay, that's totally abnormal but we'll talk about that later, for now stop showing me these memories please, I need to bleach my eyes," Zayde said, scanning the room for a clock,as the Memories seized and faded into his mind.

'Rave shouldn't be gone for this long,' He thought, now noticing her long term absence, he moved his eyes to the door, expecting to see her boots show up or hear her voice from afar but nothing came.

He crawled over to the window, neon lights reflecting on his face, the faint echoes of the night sounding like a melody to him.

"Oblivon, what time is it?" He turned away from the scene, his eyes once again scanning the room.

[Twelve am, Midnight]

"That's too late, How long was out?" He asked no one in particular, rising to his feets. He sauntered out of the living room, returning with black combat boots and a hoodie.

[Four hours]

His eyes widened for a moment as he threw on the hoodie while standing on one foot to wear the boots.

'I've never been this worried about Leah yet I'm worried about Rave,' he said to himself, feeling ridiculous for thinking about a dead person, tone laced with regret as he finished strapping the boot in place.

"Where did she even say she was going?" He asked, pulling the hood over his head, he picked up a mask hung on the wall beside the Threshold door.

"I'm going to kill her if I find out she's busy doing shit," He added and walked through the threshold Gate, appearing in the halls with multiple gates.

Similar yet different, through then he saw different places but no sign of Ravena.

'How can I even navigate this stupid thing? I can't even remember where she said she was going' He yelled internally, walking past the gates, oblivious of the sudden change of his environment.

[Door on the right]

Oblivon alerted him and almost immediately he snapped out of his frustration turning to the door.

As he approached the door, He squinted his eyes, peering into the dark alleyway that the threshold Gate stood in, invisible and cloaked in the dark end.

He heaved a sigh, silently hoping he wouldn't come across anything that would make him doubt reality, even when he already has and accepted everything would be abnormal.

He walked through the gate, appearing on the other side, between two tall buildings. The air was wet and smelt like moss and the metallic pungent odour of blood, that also stained the floor he stood on.

Despite the darkness he could see perfectly well, something he found odd but chose to accept once again.

A few pieces of bones–human bones especially limbs littered the ground, The dreadful smell of rotten meat arose from no where causing him to hold his breath and groan lowly.

He hurried towards the exit of the alley– the bones cracking under his feets, releasing an unbearable stench, with the intention of walking into the nearest store causally.

If he was lucky enough he would find her there, tie her up and leave without being questioned.

However, a figure suddenly appeared before him, translucent at first but then it materialized, jet black hair cascading down the back of whoever it was.

He froze, inches away from the figure, paused his breathing to avoid being sensed and quickly balled his fists ready to attack if need be.

But when The figure turned around, tired crimson eyes coming to view with a tentacle wrapped around her forehead.

"Rave?" Zayde uttered and dropped his guard immediately, He stretched out his hands to touch her but blood poured out of sides of the tentacle staining his hand.

He stared at the liquid on his arms, visions blurring again, replaced with a red vision. Everything he saw was red, her hair, the buildings, the floor and almost everything except his hand.

A dark aura emanating from Ravena, alongside the silver glow in her eyes, he stared down at his hands and saw the same except his hand was almost invisible.

He blinked rapidly, slowly gaining his regular vision back. His eyes met Ravena's worried gaze.

"I'm fine," He assured her already knowing what she would be thinking. "What happened to you?"

"Oh this," she pointed at her forehead earning a nod from him and smiled. "It's just a scratch, got attacked on my way back."

"A scratch? You must be insane," He grabbed the tentacle wrapped around her forehead and raised it up, revealing an ugly deep straight cut, blood dripping out of it.

He used his hand to cover her forehead, stopping the bleeding temporarily.

"Can you walk?"

"I am fine master"

"I'll open it up more if you tell me that again," He threatened, tone laced with worry surprising himself at the same time Ravena whose eyes widened for an instance.

"Cover it up," He ordered and she did as he said, wrapping her blood stained tentacle around her forehead firmly.

Ravena's vision was slowly starting to fade, Weakness kicked in but she fought it, holding onto the bags in her arms.

Zayde took the bags from her, lifted her up in a bridal style and rushed back into the alley. Avoiding the bones that layed there and straight into the Threshold door.

"Oblivon, what first aid can I use here? that would work on demons," He asked, panting faintly as he ran towards the Door at the end of Hall.

[Water, Blood and Rest to help quicken Regeneration]

"Alright," He gazed down at Ravena who was barely awake, her fists clenched, while the tentacle did a horrible job stopping the bleeding.

'Hang in there Rave' he whispered lifting his gaze back up.

____

[She will be fine, Zayde]

"What makes you think I care?"

[You are never this worried about anyone before, So get used to caring for her]

"You're making it sound like I like her," Irritation was evident in Zayde's voice as he placed a warm towel on Ravena's forehead.

He leaned back when no response came, silence taking its place in the room, the cushion walls keeping him away from the hard ceramic wall.

Zayde ran his eyes around the room–his room, the interior and design seemed descent for someone who had the power the bring any one to their feets.

The walls and floor padded with Cushion, while the bed was fixed at the corner of the room. A red bulb dangling from the ceiling, adding to the light the lamp at the headrest of the bed provided.

'Spent barely a day and I'm Already trusting a demon,' Zayde thought, his eyes kept on Ravena, subconsciously monitoring her breathing patterns.

'What I would give to Stay dead and not burden her with myself' He added, Switching positions, he layed on the ground, face up staring at the ceiling, listening to the silence.

'If I only I could level up and get stronger, Maybe then my revenge plans would be more diabolic and i wouldn't have to bother about her,'

[There are Various Missions to complete to attain such strength]

'What type of Missions?'

[Finding Magical Items and weapons and adding them to Your inventory, Killing High Ranked Beasts and monsters, Performing Tasks and exercises to add points]

'Why didn't you tell me this earlier?'

[Information will not be disclosed to a host if the host does not need or ask for it]

'Well then what are the Missions?'

[Once A mission or task has been disclosed alongside the rewards, there will be no going back. The host will continuously perform all tasks, till they have reached a certain rank where the rate of Missions would be slower but difficult and nearly impossible]

[Would the host like to Accept or reject]

"Accept," Zayde uttered as he sat up, keeping his voice low to avoid waking Ravena up.

[Host has chosen to accept and complete all Missions and Tasks]

Ding!

Two blue holographic screen appeared before Zayde, one with an image of a scroll, and a silver case, with a strange writing on it. He looked at the other screen where details about the scroll was written.

[Mission Objective: Arcane Knowledge Scroll. Hidden within one of the Ancient Khthonic Temples.]

[Does the host want to accept the mission or Reject?]

[Warning any rejection of Missions would result in loss of Mana points]

Zayde stared in disbelief at the screen, he heaved a sigh and reread the Mission title.

"Arcane Knowledge huh? Well that would help with my magic, so I accept the mission"
