I’m Entrusting My Son to You

Rain stirred in the bed and slowly opened her eyes. A smile formed on her lips because she felt rested and comfortable, which was a rare treat. Glancing at the clock, she was surprised she had slept straight through for four hours. It was already six in the evening. Startled, she jolted upright and quickly got out of bed. She didn't want her father-in-law waiting for her for dinner.

She hurried to fix herself up and then left the bedroom. As she walked out, she couldn't help but smile when her eyes landed on the door opposite hers—Alexander's bedroom. Curiosity flickered in her mind as she wondered what it looked like inside. Shaking her head to clear the thought, she made her way downstairs.

A servant greeted her politely. "Where's Father-in-law?" Rain asked.

"Sir Rock is with Butler Ben, playing chess in the library," the servant replied with a smile, her name tag reading "Linda."
