The Party Begins

"Sophie, Isn't it beautiful here.I feel like Cindrella." Ava said dreamily.

I was full blown by the beauty of this place. This ballroom was filled with so many people. It was like a scene from a historical novel. These people literally filled the criteria of Royals. Everyone was dressed to the T. Men were all wearing business suits in different shades of black, they almost looked same except for different ties which could be seen in all colours and the Women were wearing the Chic dresses. They looked expensive. I was confident before but seeing All these rich people my confidence bar went down. I became self-conscious about my clothes. I think anyone could pick us apart from these people and know we don't belong here. As soon these thoughts started popping in my head, I stopped and took a deep breath and reminded myself I have come a long way from where I started.I was studying, working and had a place which I can call my home. I have accomplished everything on my own even after everything that happened in my past. These people aren't going to make me feel bad about myself. They don't know me and their opinion about me doesn't matter. I encouraged myself and turned to Ava who I thought was behind me. But when I turned back to see where she was .

Bang!

I collided with a wall.

Ouch that hurt. I thought I was having a concussion.I started to fall but someone grabbed me and held me upright.

My god, don't tell me people are building walls in the middle of the room but then I realized it was not a wall but rather a well sculpted and strong chest of a man. He was holding me upright with his strong arms or I would have fallen by now and made fool of myself among these people. I was wondering who it was when a strong citrusy smell hit my nostrils. It was strong and masculine. It exuded power. I never knew a scent could tell so much. Then, it registered it was coming from the man who I collided with and who was now holding me upright in a ballroom full of people. My god! How embarrassing.

I started to straighten myself and wanted to thank this man who saved me from embarrassment and even apologize for colliding with him when he stated in his husky masculine voice :

"You should see where you are going, young lady. Or, are you being deliberate and trying to catch-eye of a rich man and achieve your Cindrella happily-richly-after."

What a jerk! This bastard who does he think he is.

I straightened and removed myself from his grasp and was ready to give him a piece of my mind but I was stunned when I looked at him.

God, he was gorgeous. He had steel gray eyes , straight aristocratic nose and full beautiful lips. His strong jaw could cut glass and my god his hair it was blond and some stray strands were touching his forehead, he was the epitome of power, elegance. He could be a king maybe he had aristocratic blood. I was standing there like a fool and staring at him shamelessly. I have never seen so fine specimen of man before. I was frozen at my place.

And then the jerk had to smirk and it took me out of my haze. I don't care how handsome-in-aristocratic way he was. He was a manner-less jackass and I was going to tell him that.

I glared at him and blurted furiously, "Don't think too mighty of yourself, gentlemen. I have no interest of trapping you or any rich-ass man to be Cindrella. And who told you I wanted a Cindrella happily-ever-after. It would be nice if you keep your opinions to yourself. And it was you who was standing like a brick wall in the middle of the ballroom." I was not going to let him insult me like that.

He mockingly bowed and said, "Oh my bad lady, I will keep that in mind that You can't stand in a ballroom in a party. And oh If any lady isn't looking where she's going it's you who is to blame"

My god, the gall of this man. I have never been so furious in my life. I was thinking of a sharp reply when I heard my name being called and tried to see where it was coming from when suddenly Ava appeared beside me and hugged me like a mama-bear.

"Oh Sophie, Where were you? I was so worried. I was talking to Ben and thought you were beside us but when I looked you weren't there. I thought you had gone back home all alone." Said Ava in a distressed tone.

"It's okay Ava. I am fine. Don't worry about me. I was just enjoying the beauty of this glamorous place. And how come you think so lowly of me. I will not leave this party without you. I keep my promises, girl" replied I. I sure was not leaving without her.

Ava was relieved and said hurriedly "okay sorry dear Sophie. Now Come on, Ben is waiting for us. He wanted us to meet some of his friends."

When Ava grabbed my hand to take me with her, I remembered the jackass and wanted to wipe that arrogant smirk from his handsome face. But, when I tried finding him, he was nowhere to be seen. I let Ava grab me with her and wanted to forget about Mr.Arrogant. I will not let him ruin my once-in-a-lifetime evening. Ava led me through throngs of people and finally I saw Ben with some fine looking gentleman. They were deep in some conversation but when they saw us aka me and Ava approaching they stopped talking and turned to us. They all looked posh rich businessman.

Ben introduced us to his friends who he said were also his business associates. They were all handsome and gentlemanly unlike that jerk. My god I want to forget that arrogant man. There must have been some angry expression on my face cause one of Ben's friend I-guess-his-name is Thomas remarked,

"Are you fine? Is something that made you angry? Beautiful lady like you should only be smiling and showering us with your gorgeous smile" ended he with a wink.

I blushed at that and quickly stated that I was fine and there's nothing to worry about except- in my mind -that arrogant-ass bastard.

One of his friends suggested we should get some drinks. So, there we went with them to the bar which was at one end of the ballroom to get drinks in this expensive-as-hell posh place.
