Charlotte couldn't believe what Boysen had said. Orion Industries enjoyed an impeccable reputation in Emerald Coast County, bolstered by the Quinns' support. It was renowned, and businesses of all sizes feared crossing it, always preferring to work with them. As the general manager of Orion Industries and a figure embedded in the upper echelons of society, how could anyone wield more authority than him? Who could this person be? And how had the Reeds managed to offend such an influential figure?
Filled with doubt, Charlotte hurried downstairs to relay the news to Anastasia. "Anastasia, I just spoke to Mr. Boysen. He said it's not him we've offended, but someone he wouldn't dare to cross."
Anastasia's face turned ashen at the revelation—someone with more authority than Mr. Boysen. Despair washed over her, and her strength ebbed away, causing her to nearly collapse. "Is... is Spark Enterprises going to be ruined just like that?"
"Anastasia!" Charlotte cried, rushing to support her sister. "Stop pushing yourself. You've already done everything you can!"
At that moment, Anastasia's phone began to ring. She took a deep breath before answering. "Hello?"
Brendan's furious voice came through the line. "Anastasia Reed, your two days are up. Have you sorted out the issue with Orion Industries? Hurry up and tell me some sensible news!"
Anastasia's lips trembled, and she struggled to find words.
Sensing the unresolved situation, Brendan sneered. "You're incompetent, so don't blame me for being ruthless! This was just a simple task grandpa asked you but resolved nothing. Prepare to be thrown out along with your family!" He hung up abruptly.
Charlotte and Anastasia exchanged worried glances, a sense of impending doom settling over them.
"Charlotte, we need to get home quickly! We don't know what Brendan is planning!"
"Yes!" Charlotte nodded, quickly ushering Anastasia into the metallic red Lamborghini. The sports car roared to life, speeding through the streets towards the Reed mansion.
Ethan, observing their distressed departure from the top floor of the Orion Industries office tower, sensed something was wrong. Has something happened? He quickly went outside the building and followed them.
Claudia was sitting in the Reed residence's living room, watching television, when she was startled by a loud crash outside.
"Who's there?" Claudia shouted, stepping out in irritation, only to see a crowd gathered in front of the courtyard. The fence had been pulled aside, leaving a gaping hole in the ground!
"Which idiot did this?! Are you blind? Did you not see the barrier here? If you don't pay for this..." Claudia erupted, her voice shrill with anger, hands on her hips. She then noticed Brendan emerging from behind the crowd with a smug expression.
Claudia recognized that the people at the gate were Spark Enterprises' security officers, led by Brendan.
"Brendan... What's happening? Why are they...?" Claudia stammered, panic rising within her. She was not a person with low comprehension of what was really happening. Her most profound worry was happening.
Hearing the commotion, Charles hurriedly joined them. "Brendan, what's going on?"
"Hah, what's going on? Don't you know? Two days ago, Grandpa said that if Anastasia Reed couldn't resolve the contract issues with Orion Industries, he would throw you all out and disown you! He said Anastasia is not to bear the name of the Reed since she is a bold and incompetent pain in the ass." He added these sordid words to stir trouble, although his grandfather did not mention the last statement.
"Time's up. What do you think is happening?" Brendan sneered.
Claudia and Charles immediately panicked. They had heard Thaddeus's ultimatum but believed Anastasia would quickly clear up the misunderstanding and convince Orion Industries to continue their collaboration. They never expected Anastasia to fail and Brendan to be so heartless as to send men to evict them as early as now. How ridiculous these people are!
"Throw them out along with all their belongings! And make sure they won't get any appliances from the house. This is a Reed property, not theirs." Brendan ordered.
"Stop!" Charles shouted angrily. He glared at Brendan. "Brendan, I am your uncle. Do you have no regard for that at all?"
"Hmph, you're just a bastard Grandma brought into the family. How are you, my uncle? Grandpa only lets you take Reed's surname because of Grandma. You've taken advantage of the Reeds and lived in luxury for too long. People like you and your family should have been thrown out ages ago!" Brendan retorted mockingly.
"Throw them out! Make no regard to them. They are no longer part of Reeds. This should have been done a long time ago."
Following Brendan's command, the security officers demolished whatever they could. Claudia and Charles were dragged away amidst a flurry of curses and struggles. Chaos erupted in the small courtyard.
Anastasia and Charlotte arrived home, only to find a scene of utter chaos. Seeing their parents being dragged away like this and seeing Brendan without any regard as one of the elders of the Reed family is genuinely heartbreaking to see. Her heart is aching for her family.
"All of you, stop!" Anastasia shouted, her voice full of desperation and authority.
