The New General Manager

The meeting formally began shortly after that.

Martin Fuest, the deputy General Manager, began with an introductory statement: "I'm sure you've all heard about the new General Manager of Spark Enterprises. Let Mr. Gabriel Robson from headquarters announce the new General Manager's appointment. Everyone, please give him a round of applause!"

Clap! Clap!

Robson took up the appointment letter and read it aloud sadly, following the warm applause. "Miss Reed is now designated the General Manager of Spark Enterprises. She will be in charge of Spark Enterprises' day-to-day operations for ten years!"

"The provisions of this letter have been accepted by the head office, Orion Industries, following the appropriate processes. It will take effect immediately after the date of reading."

"May I invite the new General Manager, Miss Anastasia Reed, to the stage to deliver a speech for everyone!"

When Robson stated this, everyone subconsciously began applauding. But some were still stunned.

On the other hand, everyone underneath the stage was filled with surprise and horror.

Is Anastasia Reed the new General Manager?

Is this the Anastasia Reed we know?

But isn't Anastasia Reed already down and out? Why did she suddenly become General Manager of Spark Enterprises?

If it isn't her, might it be someone else by the same name? But this is a familiar name.

Susan, who was sitting in the first row, was utterly stunned! She thought she heard it wrong. She is still contemplating if the name she heard is correct.

She could not believe Anastasia Reed had suddenly become the General Manager of Spark Enterprises!

Something must have gone wrong.

"Impossible... There must be someone else with the same name... It must be someone else." Susan mumbled softly and clenched her fists tightly. She then looked at the podium with concern. She cannot comprehend what is happening.

The sharp and distinct sounds of high heels striking on the ground could be heard from behind the podium.

Anastasia, dressed in an elite business suit, walked slowly and dignifiedly to the stage in front of a large crowd. She then took the empty seat in the center and sat down.

The gold 'General Manager' nameplate before Anastasia glistened in the light. She truly is!

Susan could no longer deceive herself. What she heard is right!

Anastasia Reed, the new General Manager she had been looking forward to seeing, was present! The woman she wanted to remove from this company is suddenly the new General Manager! What is happening to this company? How did this happen?

Layers of chilly sweat poured out of her body. She was shaking all over and twitching constantly. She felt some icy stares from the front.

She even sat in the first row, reserved for persons in senior management positions. Every time she looked up, she saw Anastasia's somber expression, as if she was glaring daggers at her and exposing her to the public. She is literally in a hot seat right now.

Susan felt humiliated and remorseful at this point. She stares blankly at the stage. Not knowing what to do.

However, Anastasia did not even look at Susan once.

She sat in the General Manager's seat on the podium, speaking calmly and clearly. She delivered a few quick statements on the company's current situation and future development plans.

After all, Anastasia had built Spark Enterprises entirely on her own, and now that she was back in charge, she had nothing to fear. She spoke clearly and was fluent, professional, elegant, collected, and sophisticated. Everyone listed below remembered her as CEO. Their real CEO has now returned!

Susan had been sweating hard below the stage, causing her makeup to smear. She was too flustered to hear what Anastasia was saying.

"Okay, this concludes today's meeting." We will all endeavor to improve Spark Enterprises under Miss Reed's leadership!"

Everyone applauded heartily throughout Fuest's closing remark, and Susan finally came to her senses. She returned to the current situations after sweating profusely.

When Susan noticed Anastasia standing up and going toward the conference room exit, followed by Fuest and Robson, she wiped a handful of cold sweat from her face and went after her. "Miss Reed, please wait!"

Countless people below the stage were watching intently, waiting to see what Susan would say to Anastasia. This will be a good view after the twist of events today.

After all, Susan detested Anastasia, and virtually everyone in the company knew it, especially after witnessing the scolding in the morning and slapping Anastacia by Susan.

Anastasia cast an icy-cold stare at Susan, who was hurrying toward her with smudged eyeliner and cosmetics. There was no mockery in her eyes, nor was there any thrill at having exacted revenge. There was only severe indifference. "What's the matter?"

"Um... Miss Reed and I were supposed to celebrate my promotion at Stone Restaurant this afternoon, weren't we? I want to invite you to tonight's dinner to congratulate you on your new position as General Manager of Spark Enterprises!" Susan Clide smiled cheerfully as if the events between her and Anastasia didn't occur. As if she had an amnesia of what she did to Anastasia this morning.

Anastasia had to concede that she had a high EQ or, more specifically, extraordinarily thick skin.

Susan also sent an invitation to Fuest and Robson. "It's unusual for all the leaders to be present. I wonder whether you will give me the honor of having supper with you."

Susan purposefully performed a lighthearted gesture that she believed was cute, but she had no idea how repulsive she looked with her smudged makeup.

Anastasia sneered. "How do I qualify to join your promotion celebration party? I still have to go home with my lousy spouse, lest he forsake me!"

Susan had previously made sarcastic remarks about Anastasia. Her face tensed as Anastasia used them against her, leaving her speechless.

Robson frowned and remained mute. He didn't know the woman before him, but he assumed she had upset Anastasia Reed, so he was not friendly to her. He doesn't want to dirty his hands with people upsetting his bosses.

Fuest frowned as he recognized the primary issue in Susan's statements. "What promotion?"

As Spark Enterprises' interim deputy General Manager, he was naturally familiar with the recent staff changes and was aware that Susan Clide was a deputy manager in the business department.

Susan ruffled her hair and hurriedly giggled. "So, the corporation plans to promote me to Director of the business department! Thank you Mr. Fuest and Miss Reed for believing in me!"

Fuest frowned. "You are merely a deputy manager. How did you get promoted straight to Director? Also, who informed you about the promotion? How come I don't know? I did not signed any document stating of your promotion as Director."

Susan was dumbfounded. Oh no!

Fuest's comments made her heart sink, and she had an unsettling hunch. Was this a joke to her?

"Jenny... from the HR department... she came to tell me this morning about the promotion..." Susan stammered.

Fuest sneered. "Are you new to Corporate? There was no appointment letter, but you believed it simply because someone said so. You're so brainless!"

After saying this, Fuest stopped paying attention to Susan and swiftly spun around to catch up with Anastasia.

Susan felt immediately ashamed. Fuest meant that she would not be promoted to Director and would never be a promotion for her! She just assumed what was told to her was true and suddenly believed everything!

In this moment, all eyes were on her!
