As the group walked through the northern curved gate of Romus and deeper into the city, toward the Palace, they saw a lively atmosphere in the market square full of citizens after a hard day of work, spending time with their loved ones and eating at market stalls rather than at home. Julius, seeing this, became excited as it reminded him of his old life when he wasn't restricted to the Palace and could, after saving his money, eat out and enjoy the food.
Almost on auto-pilot, Julius, still clad in his grass-stained red Lorrica Segmentata, went ahead and joined a small two-person queue for a nearby market stall selling meat and vegetables on a wooden plate.
Walking up behind him and grabbing his arm, King Junius whispered, "What are you doing, Julius? we have to return to the Palace to see your Mother and little siblings."
