NOW, FIGHT!

Throughout history, the region of Enna, located in the center of Sicily has always been known for its conflicts and disputes over territorial control among politicians, foreign invaders, noble Sicilians and Mafia families owing to its rich mineral deposits, including sulfur and other valuable materials.

Asides from its rich possessions, Enna also had stunning panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, and a historical significance that showcased the strategic stronghold of Sicilian's culture and history. These and more attracted lots; from tourists, to businessmen and even mafias who were interested in what they could get from the town in the center of the city.

Over the years, the most fearsome Mafia families of Sicily – De Luca and De Russo – have been locked in a bitter feud stemming from their interests in the Enna region.

Both mafias have earned reputations as ruthless and unbeatable players in Sicily's underworld, engaging in a wide range of illegal businesses including, robbery, kidnapping, drug trafficking, car smuggling and even assassinations. To other gangs they were a force to reckon with, but for De Luca and De Russo, they could not bear the sight of each other as much as see the other succeed, often resulting in dangerous clashes and meddling in each other's affairs.

Due to its flourishing economy and caliber of people the town Enna attracts, De Luca and De Russo families made it a prime location for their operations. On many occasions, their paths crossed with the same clients, sparking a clash of interest that escalated into dangerous confrontations and mob warfare, claiming the lives of countless mafia members in the process.

This conflict became a legacy inherited through generations; from father to son, from son to grandson, and so on, until it landed in the hands of Don Carlo De Luca and Don Rossi Russo.

However, unlike their ancestors they both decided to bring the age long violence and vendetta to a halt. As two ruthless Mafia leaders driven by their own self-interests, they chose to end the age long strife that had claimed lives, properties and ammunition, to settle instead for a deal where the winner takes it all – and even more.

To avoid an all-out war, the two Mafia Dons agreed to resolve their inherited conflict through a duel of champions. In the arrangement, the loser agrees to cede territory to the victor who takes it all. But Don Carlo wanted more than just the territory. Alongside the territory, he demanded Don Rossi's cherished niece as a gesture of goodwill, if eventually he emerges triumphant.

Confident in his imminent victory, Don Rossi agreed to this challenge, appointing his henchman, Lorenzo as his representative, with little regard for the fate awaiting his little niece. On the other hand, Don Carlo chose his trusted right-hand man, Marco to represent him in the brutal showdown.

Both champions – Lorenzo and Marco – were selected to engage in the Sciancatura, a time-honored tradition of knife fighting, befitting the Mafia family's long-standing quarrel.

It was the day of the duel, set in the heart of their most prized territory - Enna. Don Carlo and his gang members were already seated, with Don Rossi and his crew settled on the opposite side, each flanked by their chosen representatives. The audience comprised a diverse mix of spectators, including the old and young, middle and high class, different Mafia supporters and even some curious foreigners intrigued by the future outcome of this duel.

Addressing the crowd, a fierce-looking man steps forward to commence the proceedings, "Today we witness an extraordinary event in the history of De Luca and De Russo families' long feud", he declares with a hoarse voice. "An agreement that will most likely bring to an end the conflict that has risked the lives of their members, and innocent bystanders alike."

"As tradition dictates in the Sciancatura", he continues. "Each of the rivals must have a representative, and with that we have Marco representing Don Carlo De Luca", He announces, motioning for Marco to step forward. "And representing Don Rossi Russo is Lorenzo," he adds, as Lorenzo steps forward to the circle.

The referee continues, "As we all know the winner of this duel will gain control of the Enna territory, free from interference by the other family. And of course, the little virgin niece of Don Rossi, Luna is also at stake." He adds slyly, as the crowd cheers him on.

"With that said, gentlemen, grab your weapons!" He calls out. Lorenzo and Marco receive their knives from their respective gang members.

"Now, fight!" The referee exclaims, igniting the crowd's fervor as the opponents take the field ready for the duel.

The atmosphere crackled with anticipation as the two champions eyed each other with steely determination. Gradually they circled each other warily, their movements fluid yet controlled. With each step they tested each other's defenses, seeking an opening to strike. The clang of their knives meeting echoed through the air, followed by the occasional grunts and curses as they both clashed in a deadly dance of blades.

Meanwhile, the crowd's cheers rose and fell like the ebb and flow of the sea, their allegiances divided between the rival Mafia families. Some shouted words of encouragement to their favored champion, while others exchanged heated debates and predictions about the outcome of the duel.

In no time, Lorenzo and Marco were trading blows with increasing ferocity, their movements fueled by adrenaline and determination to not disappoint their bosses or the crowd cheering them with high intensity. Blood trickled from deep cuts and slight scratches, staining their clothes and mixing up with the sand below.

As the duel raged on, the crowd's reactions followed suit. Their cheers and jeers mixing up with the sounds of the opponent's knives that clanged together. Some gasped as Lorenzo landed a particularly savage blow, while others cheered in triumph as Marco retaliated with equal force.

Don Carlo and Don Rossi watched the brutal drama unfold with bated breath, their faces portraying a mix of pride, concern and anticipation. With each passing moment, their hopes rose and fell with the flow of the battle, their fates hanging in the balance along with those of their champions.

Back in the arena, Lorenzo and Marco continue their fierce battle for survival and control for the territory on which they fought on. In the end, only one must emerge victorious, their triumph signaling a new chapter in the age-old feud between their bosses, whom they have also inherited this feud with as their fathers who served their bosses lineage have done in the past.

Lorenzo bearing a sharp cut across his left eye, blood trickling down his face, while Marco suffering a deeper wound on his shoulder – both looking weary but resolute, refusing to concede to defeat. With a loud grunt, they lunged towards each other, knives held out for their decisive strike with a determination to end it all. As they collided in the center of the arena, a hush fell over the crowd, every eye fixed on the unfolding spectacle. Don Carlo and Don Rossi, uneasily seated with their respective gangs, watched on with bated breath, their faith hanging in the balance.

In that fleeting moment of confrontation and tension, one thing was certain – they had a winner.
