The Mysterious Man

Amari was leaning on the stand in deep thought. She was with Otto at the stand and was thinking about the fact that her money was running out. She didn't really think about the fact that she might run out of money here. She sighs, "I might have to get a job. I already spent the gold coin on the inn, but that has run out. Now that I think about it, the inn lady has been really nice to me...."

Amari looked up and saw someone familiar. The person looked over and said, "Huh, oh, Hey Amari!" "Milo," she greeted him as he came up to the stand. "Are you off duty?" She asked, "For how Yeah, you're actually who I was looking for." Amari tilted her head. "Really?" "Yeah," he said, smiling. "You know that guy you stopped?" "Yeah?" "Well, I just figured I should tell you that he went in for the job!" He said excitedly. Amari leaned up a bit. "Did he get it?" she asked curiously. "I... don't know. I left before I could find out." Amari hummed. Just then, Otto slid over. "Hey, who's this, huh, Amari?" Otto asked, wigging his eyebrows. She raised an eyebrow. "This is Milo," she answered as Milo waved. "Nice to meet you, names Otto." "Nice to meet you too." "So, how did you guys meet?" Otto asked, dragging the e. "oh well"

As Milo walked off, Otto turned to Amari, his head on his palm. "He seems nice," Amari hummed. "Yeah, I guess." She turns and sees him with a grin on his face. "And he's a guard," Otto adds. She nods there's a silence for a moment before she asks, "Your point is?" He stands up straight, still grinning. "Oh, nothing..." he says slyly. She blinks before grabbing a piece of bread and pulling down her mask to eat it. As she ate, she asked, "Hey, do all of the city guards not have armor?" "Yep, we don't have enough money, so they go around with normal clothes and spears because they are easy to make." She hummed. "You know, now that I think about it, the only time I saw the bottom part of your face was when you spent the night at our house. That being said, you mostly wear that mask because of the smell, right? So has Milo even seen your full face?" Amari hums thinking before shaking her head. "Nope, I don't think he has." Their conversation came to a halt as they heard yelling. Amari turned just in time to see an arrow coming their way. Her eyes widened, and she jumped over the stand, knocking Otto down and avoiding the arrow. They looked over the stand and saw two groups fighting. "What the-" Something was thrown at them, almost hitting them. "Yeah, we need to go," she said, turning to Otto as he nodded. "Right," he said.

As they moved, they got split up. Amari tried to find Otto as someone tried to grab her satchel. She spined around and punched them in the face before she grabbed her daggers and held them, cutting anyone who came near her. She then saw Otto about to be grabbed. She ran to him, jumping up, and kicked the person who tried to grab Otto in the face, and they dropped to the floor. Otto looked shocked as she asked if he was alright. He just nodded as she said, "Stick close." As they moved through the crowd, she saw a kid in the crossfire about to get sliced in half by a sword. As soon as she saw it, Amari ran over with no hesitation. She managed to pull the kid back from the sword, but she didn't have enough time to pull herself back. The sword hit her across the face, leaving a deep cut starting above her eyebrow and ending at her bottom jaw. The thug In front of her, was about to swing again, but he received an arrow in his back, making him drop to the ground. Behind him was Milo with his bow. Milo's eyes went wide as he ran over to her. "Are you ok?" he asked, worried. Amari just stared at him as Otto ran over. The kid stared at her with wide eyes as Milo looked behind her and saw the kid she protected. "Otto, can you hold up Amari?" he asked as otto nodded. "Yeah." Otto put one of Amari's arms around his neck as Milo bent down to the kid. "Are you hurt?" The kid shook their head, still staring at Amari with wide eyes. Amari felt the stare and gave a thumbs up. "I'm ok, but we need to get you out of here." As they moved, Milo shot down anybody that got too close. Suddenly the battle seems to pause. They all look over and see a guy walk in, and Amari can already tell this guy is not here to play, but before she can get a good look at him, she passes out.
