Frankly

When I was falling deep into my line of thoughts, I saw two familiar faces. I thought for a moment whether to drop or not, and chose the former.

I lowered the altitude and landed in front of them. They noticed something was coming at them from the sky, and upon realizing what it was, they smiled.

"Syn!" A middle aged woman exclaimed with a smile.

"Mom." I smiled back at her and got off the hoverboard. I shifted my eyes to the girl next to my mom.

"Aren't you going to say anything?"

"Why?" The girl looked at me with an annoyed look.

She is my little sister, Mira. She is cute and has petite features. She's wearing a brown cloak with white shirt underneath and a pair of jeans. My mom wore a simple white dress. She has long black hair, tall and even though her age slowly takes away her beauty, her beauty remains stubbornly.

"Don't you miss your bro?" I spread my arms.

"Die!" She punched my stomach.

"Ouch!" Even though it wasn't hurt, I pretended it was.

"It's annoying I can't hurt you."

"Why do you hate me so much?" I hold my tears from falling.

"Figure that out yourself, stupid, idiot." She crossed her arms and looked away.

I could only sigh seeing her like this.

"Syn, have you been eating properly?" my mom asked worriedly.

"Yeah, I have."

"When will you return home?"

"When I'm done with my mission mom. Don't worry."

"Don't force yourself, okay?"

"Okay."

I patiently replied to her questions. People would usually be annoyed when their mother bombarded them with so many questions, but to me, it was just her way of showing her love and concern. I'm happy.

"Where are you two going?" I pondered curiously.

"We're about to go shopping for dinner. You should come and eat, Syn."

I thought for a moment and agreed. It wouldn't take a lot of time anyway.

"You hear that, Mira. I'm going shopping with you." I said teasingly.

"Hmph!" She walked ahead of us with wide steps.

"Syn, don't be mad at her. She just needs some time." Mom reassured me.

"I know."

We walked to a nearby supermarket and bought food and the ingredients for dinner. While at it, I make funny jokes, remarks or faces to Mira so she could laugh or smile, but she responds with a flat expression.

I was a bit disappointed and rejected, but I didn't give up.

I paid for the groceries and felt proud of myself, fulfilling my duty as a son. I used my powers to carry the heavy bags of goods. They floated just in front of us.

On the way home, my mom and I caught up. We talked about the neighborhood, who got married, who died, who went to a prestigious college or job, the usual stuff.

"We also have a new neighbor. Mister Saki moved away because his job transferred him to Olympus."

"When did they move in?"

"Yesterday. They're nice people, Syn. They even give us delicious food from Excalibur."

"Really? That's good."

Just as we were absorbed with our conversation…

"Thief! Someone, please help!" A woman shrieked.

I observed my surroundings and found someone running. He wore a black cap covering his face.

I take a drag of my vape and create a rope of smoke. As though it has life of its own, the rope slithered through the crowd and coiled the man's left leg before pulling him. The man fell head first and caused a loud thud. Either the impact caused him to fall unconscious or the pain caused him that, I ordered the smoke to lift him and bring him to me.

With his head close to the ground and his leg in the air, he slowly came towards me.

His eyes were tightly shut. He appeared to be unconscious.

"Thank you!" The same woman looked at me with delight.

I gave back her purse and she said, "I'm really thankful you caught him. I don't know what to do if this is gone! This is the last money I have!"

"It's nothing." I dismissed the smoke and the thief fell with his head first.

"Wait, aren't you my neighbor?" The woman said after looking at my mom.

"Miss Rin?" Mom guessed doubtfully.

"Yes, that's me. What a coincidence we met!"

"Oh my, it truly is!"

"Is he your son?" She shifted her eyes to me. When our eyes met, I almost doubted what I'm seeing. It felt so coincidental that I almost lost my cool.

I take a deep breath, discreetly, and think again. It wasn't coincidental that we met. The location Yin Hee gave to me was also close to my house. Henceforth, meeting with the target by accident wasn't 0%

I was just surprised I'd meet her so quickly, which will make things easier.

Yurim took the identity of a woman named Rin. According to Yin Hee, Yurim's new identity was working as a teacher and also a waiter. Her husband was a blue collar freelancer. Both earned enough money, no, slightly above the average and led a simple life.

"Yes."

"Your son is rather handsome. I have nephews the same age as him. Do you want me to pair them with your son?" She asked playfully.

"That is a generous offer. What do you think?" Mom shifted her eyes to me with a teasing smile.

"There's no need for trouble, but thank you for the offer, Miss Rin."

"Don't sweat it. Oh right, why don't you go to my place and we eat dinner together? As a way of saying thanks for getting my purse back."

She could easily take him down, I thought to myself. She is an Honor after all.

"Wouldn't that be troubling you?" Mom being considerate.

"Of course not. So, what do you say?"

Mom looked at us for answers. We nodded.

"Then we wouldn't hesitate to take the offer," mom replied.

We went to Yurim's house. Mom and Mira helped Yurim make dinner while I sat on the couch, watching TV, or at least that's what they think.

The one on the couch was my clone. I was upstairs, entering Yurim's bedroom and rummaging through her belongings for anything significant.
