Chapter 5

Chapter 5

AMELIA GOMEZ

Kael held me by my hands making me stunned, I tried twisting my hand from his but his grip was tight and alas, I am a wolf less omega.

"Smile, the royal family and inner court members aren't that friendly," he whispered to my ears as we entered the mansion, and the royal family was seated with their eyes glued to us.

Kael cleared his throat before speaking,

"This is Amelia Gomez, My wife and your Luna,"

There was surprise in their eyes, although they tried to suppress it, it was still obvious.

"Can she get some welcoming please, I don't like the cold invitation," Kael yelled before they muttered some welcoming pleasantries, which was fake but I had to respond anyway.

"Thank you all for welcoming me to your pack and home,"

Kael and I stood there until a middle-aged man came towards us with a wide smile, that showed his dimples on both sides.

"You look like death, Amelia," The man said, and I became conscious of my looks immediately.

I was stained with blood, from head to toe and I was getting weak as time went by.

"Yeah, she does," Kael chimed in, and I rolled my eyes at him.

"I am Dowager Elowen, and I think you need to be taken to the Infirmary," I said, waving his hands to signal some guards.

"No need for that, Elowen, I will take her there myself," Kael offered, brushing his curly hair backward.

I wanted to reject his offer and allow the guards to take me to the infirmary but before I could object, Kael took my feet off the ground and carried me in a bridal style.

I wanted to yell for him to put me down but my eyes were too heavy and I lost consciousness.

I opened my eyes and I was at the infirmary, my body wasn't hurting again, I turned to the other side and saw Kael holding my hands tightly.

I twisted my hands from his and tried to be silent but I still woke him up.

"You are healed now," he whispered with a husky voice, that sent an excitable thrill down my spine.

 "Yes, thanks to you,"

I let go of my hand and sat on the chair, resting his back.

"I fucking hate assassins," he spat out, his voice was filled with anger and betrayal. He would have snapped my neck if he didn't have a task for me.

"I…I…I," I stuttered, not sure whether to apologize or just let things slide.

"I might have felt a mate bond with you, and I fucking hate it, I hate the mate bond with an assassin or would I say a wolfless omega?" I gulped hard at his harsh use of words, if I still had my powers, I would have knocked some teeth out of his mouth and snapped his head in at once.

"Nice reminder, I almost forgot that I am a wolfless omega," I groaned at him.

"Don't expect any love in this marriage, we have our agender and we would work by it," he said, ignoring my earlier comment.

"I know," I whispered, rolling my eyes at him again, as that was the only power I owned.

"If you don't find my father's killer in six months, my protection over you will be gone and you will be taken back to Black Moon, where Dante would love to use you for meat," He snapped at me.

Hearing Dante's name reminded of of his betrayal, and the fact I didn't get to spill the secret about Dante and Mirvanna's secret love affair.

"What if I can't find your father's killer?" I asked, with uncertainty.

"I will take you back to Black Moon, so you can face your punishment," he said, with a hiss.

My heart was beating at a faster pace, and I could not feel my legs again. Going back to Blackwood is instant death, I am not afraid of death, that is one rule of being an assassin.

I just don't want to die at Dante or Mirvanna's hands, the defeat would be too much.

"What do you know about your father's death?" I asked, with determination.

"I came late to save my father, but I gave the assassin a cut on the right hand,"

I waited for him to tell me all the clues, but it seemed like he was done talking.

"And injury on the right hand?" I asked, sitting up.

"Yes, that is exactly what I said," he groaned at me.

"That is not a freaking clue, every assassin can sustain an injury on the right hand, " I rolled my eyes at him.

"How sure are you about that?" His voice was deeper than I expected.

"We train every day, sustaining an injury on any part of the body is part of the job description, Kael,"

"Then find other clues," he said, getting off the chair.

I didn't respond to him, I had six months to find his Father's killer without any clue. How was I supposed to do that?

"You give me six freaking months to find your father's killer but you have no clue, that's the dumbest thing someone can do," I yelled at the top of my voice and he turned around immediately, with anger flashing in his eyes.

"What the tone you use, when talking to me," he warned and I scoffed at him.

"Watch how you speak to me too, I don't love you, neither do I love this marriage or even the mate bond that you can feel but I can't feel," I groaned at him.

"Stop talking," he warned, getting our stuff ready so we would leave the infirmary.

"Don't expect anything from this marriage, we are just work partners who happen to be mates," I sneered at him.

 Kael grunts but stays silent.

We left the infirmary and we were in our chambers.

It seems like I'm going to share this cold room with the devil.

I looked around the room before turning to look at him.

"I am not sharing a room with you," I said, folding my hands underneath my breast.

"We don't have a choice, we have to appear madly in love if we want this to work," He said.

He was right, if anyone knew the real reason behind our marriage, everything was going to be over, and I would die by Dante and Mirvanna's hands. That can't happen.

Kael was security conscious as he locked the windows firmly.

"You think the killer is in the palace?" I asked, and he nodded. It
