Ocean's One

I looked down and saw Uriel lying on the ground. He started to stir and woke up. He also looked around, confused by all the doors.

"Where did you bring me?"

"I didn't know this would happen, but I think we're inside your mind."

"Who the hell are you? How do you have this much power?"

"To be fair, I don't know I could do this either."

"So what now?"

I looked at all the doors, and words floated above each one, indicating the memories behind them. I scanned the area and found what I was looking for: the location and access to the vault.

"Open that one for me."

Uriel turns around and looks at the door that I indicated. His eyes widen, and he shakes his head furiously.

"There's no way I will give you access to that. You've taken enough from us. You can just leave."

"Crippling the entire Company aligns more with my true goals. I didn't have the time or ability to attack the vault before, but now I do."

I walk over to one of the smaller doors. It is labeled as an "Embarrassing High School Memory." There's only one lock on it, and I couldn't figure out how to open it. However, it does look pretty flimsy. I take my sword and break the lock. Uriel cries in pain as the lock crashes to the floor and disappears. I watch Uriel build the courage to ask a girl to prom, only for her boyfriend to appear behind him. He wet himself and ran away crying. I wish I hadn't witnessed that.

I walk over to the door containing the vault memories. Now that I knew I could break the locks, I would just force myself in. There are hundreds of locks, each one more complicated than the last. I take a step back and prepare to swing my sword to destroy as many as I can in one strike. Uriel screams out to me.

"You just broke the one lock, and it hurt like hell. I would die if you broke all of those. Looking at the door, I can see how to open the locks. I'm unsure how I know, but it must be because we are inside my head."

He half crawled, half walked over to the door and started expertly opening the locks. I watch in amazement as he effortlessly manipulates the intricate locks. Just a minute later, the door swings open. Uriel and I watch as the location of the vault is revealed. It's in the last area that I would expect. It would make things easy for me; it's underneath the tower. There are many biometric scans and a couple of verbal passwords requiring vocal recognition. After memorizing everything, the door closed, and Uriel and I returned to where we stood.

I still have my hand around his throat and the back of his head. I take a few seconds to memorize his features. I let go of the back of his head and grabbed his hand to copy his fingerprints. After using my magic to work my body into a perfect copy of Uriel, I say a few sentences, practicing his voice. After I am satisfied, I crush his neck.

I grabbed the communicator from my pocket and gave the clear signal to the army standing outside. They acknowledged my command and confirmed that they would be returning to the ship. I headed down the elevator, walked past the terrified girls, and peeked out the front door. My plan had worked. The men were returning inside their vessels.

I quickly head to the hidden staircase and descend to the vault. Using my headset, I contact Skeeter and Kreli.

"How is the evacuation going? How is Sasha?"

Skeeter reported first. "Iona took Sasha to your quarters. The girls are safe, and the farm equipment has almost completely been transferred."

"We are done with the supplies we intended to take and have started clearing a second warehouse."

"Finish up there, Kreli. Soon, I will need your men to help me clear the vault."

There was silence for a few seconds, but Kreli confirmed they would be ready for my call. I got down to the first security measures in front of the vault. They required a retinal scan. I take a deep breath and put the eye copied from Uriel into the scanner. I let out a sigh of relief as the first door opens. I continued through all of the security doors until I finally ended up inside the vault. Millions of pounds of gold lined the shelves and tables.

I asked if Kreli was ready. He confirmed, and I told him to step inside the portal to the base. I would open a new one for him once he was ready. I opened the portal to the vault, and an alarm immediately rang. I yelled to the men pouring in from the portal.

"Take as much as you can. Once there's any sign of danger, close the portal."

I run out of the room and up the stairs, returning to my all-black form. I tell the girls on the bottom floor that I will be helping them escape. I open a portal and start breaking open the doors of the cells. The girls quickly run out and through the portal. Before the first Guards from the ships approach the doors, all the girls are gone. I wait for the doors to open and unleash my attack.

"Fire magic: Dragon's Flame!"

A stream of fire erupts from my hands and towards the doors. Immediately, the first attackers burst into flame but quickly burned to ash. I don't let up and turn the front lawn of the tower into a raging fire pit. Skeeter called out to the headset, saying that some of the men were on their way there but that he would finish before they could get to him. I head back down to the vault and toss gold bars through the portal while the rest of the men are safe inside the base. We could only take about ten percent of the contents, which would be enough for now.

I stepped through the portal to the pocket dimension, and it closed behind me. The white void grew quiet, and then cheers and applause from the successful raid filled the air. I returned to my usual form, and everyone started gathering around me. I decided to say a few words, acknowledging our accomplishment. I had out my hand in the crowd crew, silent.

"We did something big today, and I'm proud of our efforts. We will continue to get things organized, and the rewards promised will soon be given out. We will continue to take the fight to those who attack the innocent and to be the healers that the multiverse needs."

The celebrations started once again. I spent a few minutes hugging and high-fiving those around me. Men and women of all ages and walks of life greeted me. I felt the great responsibility of hundreds on my shoulders as I looked at everyone in my care. I decide that I need to check on Sasha and quietly slip away from the crowd to return home.
