Author's Note:
There will undoubtedly be several mistakes in this chapter—and in the next ten—as they were written during the early stages of my journey, when I was still developing my writing skills. However, the story improves significantly after that, and I truly hope you'll enjoy the progression.
I do plan to revise and re-edit these early chapters in the future.

Although he had once been told he might awaken the mage seed within him, Kyle never believed it. The world had always been unfair to him—an orphan, not a mage, not a beast tamer. In the eyes of society, he was worthless. Every day felt like hell.
He had been struggling to survive ever since his parents were killed by the Beast King's army. Both had been highly respected mages in the Kingdom of Tara.
Tara was a highly advanced kingdom—futuristic buildings, flying cars and bikes filled its airways, powered by magic-tech fusion. Kyle's early childhood had been comfortable, even exotic. But when his parents died, it all collapsed.
The so-called "relatives" came—humans who claimed kinship, only to seize everything his parents had left behind. Within days, Kyle was abandoned and left to survive on the streets.
One day, desperate for money, Kyle ventured deep into the forest to scavenge beast crystals from dead creatures—rare items he could sell to merchants. Unfortunately, he stumbled upon a live beast. It charged at him, teeth bared, death inevitable.
Then, out of nowhere, a strange man appeared and cleaved the beast's head clean off. Kyle collapsed in shock and lost consciousness.
"Get the kid to a hospital. I'll continue the raid," the man said. He wore a crimson-blue jacket and white jeans, his hair dyed an unmistakable shade of blue.
Beside him stood a girl in a hoodie. She had short blonde hair and stood about 5'7" tall. From her posture and aura, she seemed to be a mage.
Without a word, she picked Kyle up—and vanished into thin air.
---
A few hours later, Kyle awoke in a hospital bed. His eyes scanned the room groggily.
Suddenly, a screen appeared before him—glowing, translucent, and hovering in mid-air.
[Dragon System Online]
[You have unlocked the Blue Dragon]
[New user details confirmed]
[All abilities: Level 1]
[New ability gained: Blue Dragon Flame]
"What the hell...? A screen?" Kyle muttered, stunned.
He looked around, checking to see if anyone else could see what he was seeing—but no one reacted.
He thought about closing the screen—and it vanished. He thought again—and it returned. It responded to his thoughts.
Strange… yet intriguing.
Still, reality hit hard. Who would pay his hospital bill?
That became his top concern. Without hesitation, he got out of bed and began sneaking through the hospital's large corridors. Like a ninja, he zigzagged through various exits and hidden pathways until he finally slipped out undetected.
Once outside, Kyle sprinted all the way home—a small, government-assigned room. In Tara, all orphans over the age of fifteen were entitled to basic accommodation and a monthly stipend of 100 Teras, the kingdom's digital currency.
Teras were transferred directly to each citizen's digital wristwatch, which also acted as a tracking device and payment system.
Once home, Kyle locked the door behind him, grinning with relief. On the table nearby sat his transparent tablet—a high-tech screen used for reading, studying, and gaming.
He picked it up and began typing.
"Mages with screen abilities…"
Nothing useful came up. No records of mages who could summon system-like interfaces.
He sighed, put the tablet down, and slumped into the chair.
"I need to open that screen again," he thought.
Instantly, it reappeared.

Kyle wasn't shocked by the "Non-Human" tag. His parents had once revealed their bloodline: they were distant descendants of a legendary vampire known as The Blood Monarch, a terrifying being said to have ruled two centuries ago.
It was a family secret. No one knew if the Monarch still lived.
Curious, Kyle tapped on the Soul Beast tab.

[Soul Beast: Blue Dragon]
[Health: 20/20]
[Power Level: 1]
[Tier: E Rank]
---
Beasts, like mages, were categorised into ranks—from Rank O (the strongest) to Rank E (the weakest). Dragons were typically Rank O, with only two known species: the White Dragon and the Black Dragon.
Kyle had never heard of a Blue Dragon. And judging by its stats… this one seemed weak. But even that was unusual. Dragons were never weak.

Kyle stared at the screen.
"So it's like a game system... Quests give rewards, rewards boost levels... that makes sense."
He closed the screen and laid back on the bed, staring at the blank ceiling above.
Suddenly, a ding came from his pocket.
He pulled out a smaller screen device—similar to a smartphone.
A message displayed:
"Mage Academy now accepting new applicants. Test begins tomorrow at City Hall, 9 AM."
Kyle sat up straight.
"Finally. I'm going to retake the test. This time... I'll make it in."
