Chapter 10 – I miss my lusty spider queen

By the time nightfall arrives, I have made a makeshift fire. Mila looks at me with an interrogatory gaze.

"It's cold and I am not going to freeze my ass off," I say. She shrugs and sits next to me.

Mila shakes her head with a sigh. "All airplanes have been swiped clean… do you think she might be behind it?"

I shake my head as well. "She is probably too busy entertaining the next explorer that ventures in the lair. By this time she would have found us, no?"

"The spider king ventures outside… I don't know how far away."

"Well, spiders don't usually venture too far away from their home. I think we are safe,"

"Those are not common spiders," Mila place her back against one of the delipidated airplane. I do the same, while I enjoy the fire.

"Someone is taking the gear away, someone who doesn't want others to leave?" she asks.

I don't answer. I wonder about it, but we know so little of the first layer.

"Nothing important in your book?" I ask.

She shakes her head. "Only mention of the spiders, something about the lust of the spiders…"

We share a smile.

We eat whatever we have left of our food, in silence while we watch the fire die in front of us. After a few hours spent reading our books and coming to no conclusion, I decide is time to sleep.

"You can take this helicopter," I say to her as I get up and gesture towards the helicopter we have been laying next to. "I take the one there, come to me if you need help."

There is a shine in her eyes, but she doesn't say anything.

As I lay in my derelict, I wait for a few hours awake, until I feel too empty to think. Then I drift to sleep.

I miss my slutty lusty spider queen.
