Kylie’s POV.
As I sat in the back of the cab, heading back to my house from the swimming pool, my thoughts drifted to Logan. His touch, his kiss, how he made me feel safe—it was all so overwhelming. I couldn’t deny that I was falling for him, even if I wasn’t ready to admit it to myself fully.
The sudden jolt of the cab stopping pulled me out of my reverie. I looked up to see a group of people blocking the road. My heart sank as I recognized them—Umbra Academy. This time, they didn’t look hostile. Instead, they seemed intent on talking.
One of the administrators, a stern-looking man with piercing eyes, stepped forward. “We need to talk,” he said, his voice firm but not aggressive.
I hesitated, glancing at the cabbie. “It’s okay,” the administrator continued. “We’re not here to harm you. We just need a conversation.”
Reluctantly, I nodded and handed the cabbie half the fare. “Wait here for me,” I told him, trying to sound confident. “I won’t be long.”
