Macy's point of view
"He brought me here," Macy muttered with her hands holding the side of her head. She had stirred awake to the scent of coffee, only that she wasn't in her room- the bright lilac bedspread had covered her body and she stepped out of the room with cold feet.
"Arthur Kent, it's clear that you want me to," She paused when she saw a woman in a red robe in the kitchen.
"Oh, hi! you're up," Dalia said softly and placed a cup of coffee on the table. "Good morning, hope you rested well. I made coffee,"
"Who are you?"
"Right, sorry. My name is Dalia and Arthur brought you here last night, he didn't want to take you home because you passed out and he didn't know your passcode." She explained. Macy stared at Dalia, the woman looked familiar, even with her hair styled in a low bun and her makeup lightly done.
"And he asked me to give you this," Dalia reached for an envelope and shifted it towards Macy who eyed it.
"It's for the Contract," Dalia explained, Macy picked up the envelope and opened it, her heart racing in her chest. Her eyes skimmed over the writings and she noted all the things listed as part of their contract.
"What does he mean that I'll go nowhere without informing him? What is he supposed to be, my babysitter?" Dalia remained silent and sighed in relief when she heard the sound of a car.
"Great, he's here. You can ask him whatever question you have. I am going to get ready for work." Dalia left her alone as she continued to read the terms of the contract.
1. Do not go anywhere without letting me know
2. If you have any interaction with any of the Cox let me know-
"Great to see you're up." She didn't turn in his direction as pieces of her memory returned. Arthur had seen her passed out in the back of his car and probably carried her to bed.
With rosy cheeks, she raked her hands through her hair. Even with the scent of coffee, it couldn't out-show his cologne as he drew near.
"What the hell is it with these terms?" She hissed, tossing the paper back on the counter, she wouldn't read the rest of the writing.
"I see Dalia has given you the papers-"
"This is crap, there are all about things I shouldn't do." Her gaze finally rested on him. Arthur was dressed in a black suit set, he had a clean shave and looked better than she would admit.
"Its all for your good-"
"At least you would've asked me- it's unfair," she replied through tight lips. "I know that we want this to work out well but can you have the decency of asking me." She huffed out and rubbed out her forehead. Her hand reached for the coffee and she inhaled the scent before taking a sip.
"Can we do this again? Work on it, if it means showing up to your office and getting both our lawyers present, that would be fine with me." She said and it bothered Arthur, she wasn't the most agreeing person but right now she wasn't trying to pick any fight with him.
"I can get someone to take me back to my apartment and I can come to the office by 9," she said and Arthur stood opposite her.
"I can take you," He replied and they shared a gaze, "I'm free until 10." she glanced at the clock behind him. It was barely 7:30 and she would have enough time to get ready if they left now.
Dalia came out a few moments later to see them off, she allowed Macy to take her robe with her and handed her a band for her hair. She waved the two off as they drove off.
"Did you sleep well?"
"I didn't peg you as the one who wore a suit to the office-"
They paused, realizing they had spoken at the same time.
"You go first,"
"I slept well." she paused. "Why didn't you wake me?"
"I tried, and well, it looked like you were tired so I let you be." He replied honestly and she brushed a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
It had been a while since she slept well, with everything that had been happening, it was difficult making her run on lower hours of sleep.
"And as for dressing up for work, we may be meeting up with Cox later." Her eyes widened as she turned to him.
"Before you go at me, I didn't know until twenty minutes ago."
"Right, who would've thought that this would result in us spending more time together," she muttered under her breath.
"Who is that?" Arthur asked Macy who had her head against the window. She jerked up and stared at the front-
"Oh my God, it's Angie." She cursed. "She's going to ask questions, can you please go round again,"
"Too late, she's coming here," Arthur informed her. Angie walked towards the car and tapped on the glass. The windows went down and Macy greets Angie with a sloppy smile.
Macy peeled the robe off her shoulders as she entered her room, alone. She wasn't sure why Angie wanted to stay in the living room with Arthur and she wouldn't be so bothered since she had other things on her mind like explaining how they all got there.
She was done with her bath when she found Angie waiting on her bed.
"I don't have much to say to you." She admitted and proceeded to dry her hair. The noise was an excuse to buy time before Angie asked more questions.
"Among all our relatives, I love you the most but you also surprise me the most. Why are you not fighting with Arthur Kent?" Macy sighed and walked into her dresser, she pulled out her dress for today, it wasn't anything much, just a casual deep red gown which sat just below her knees.
"I thought you two hated each other?" Angie pressed. "What is happening Macy? I spoke to Arthur and he didn't seem to hate you. I think he has a thing for you."
"What?! That's insane talk, Angie." Macy couldn't tell if Angie was pulling her legs but it was working.
"It is not insane if he's bringing you back home like it's a casual thing."
"It was," she paused and continued. "we just had dinner and he,"
"You guys had dinner together?" Angie's surprise made her realise that Arthur didn't mention it to her; she was the one hitting herself in the foot.
"Can we talk about this later? I have a lot to do this morning and why did you even come by this early? Is everything okay?" She paused, staring at her cousin who only smiled.
"Well, I wanted to let you know that Richard and I are opening another store this weekend," she said as they walked out of Macy's room. Macy stopped and pulled her into a tight warm hug.
"Oh my God, that's great news Angie, I'm so happy for you!"
"Thank you, and I want to invite you two" Macy paused in the hallway leading to the living room.
"What do you mean by 'you two'?" "Oh, I mean you and Arthur."
