Frontline Disaster

Arthur POINT OF VIEW

Her body against his felt like a puzzle piece fitting right where it belongs, there wasn't anything more satisfying than being able to comfort her especially from family. Her hair smelled like cinnamon and cloves, it reminded him of days when his mother would bathe her hair in the oils that smelled just like that.

"Want me to cook for you?" he asked calmly and he listened to her heartbeat.

"You would?" She raised her head away from his chest to stare at his face, the overcast from the setting sun made his skin look tanner.

"Sure, its one of my many surprise skills and i believe it would make you feel better." he promised as his hands brushed away the tears in her eyes.

"Oh would you look at them, love-sick. I used to think like the both of you when i was your age, but you know what they say about good things. They don't last." They both turned to the woman who had been watching them. Waiting for Arthur to say something, Macy is surprised when he hold her hands and pull her towards the car. He was done with her family being rude and condescending, if not that he had met them at a time like this, he would've thought that she was exagerrating.

The drive back to his apartment was quiet, he thought she would speak up about not going back to her place but from the looks of it, she didn't mind the where. He was only glad that e was able to get her away from the toxic people called family.

"So what are you going to make me?" she asked as she turned to face him. "Mashed potates and gravy, rice? Sushi? Porridge? Pasta?" she blabbered and he chuckled as he turned the wheel. It was comforting to see her calm and relaxed.

"Let that be a surprise." he offered but she only rolled her eyes and leaned back on the seat. "Unless you're allergic to something-"

"Nuts." she said vaguely and he turned to her briefly with his brows raised.

"Nuts?" he repeated with an innuendo but she clearly didnt get it which made him laugh.

"Whats funny?" she asked with her brows creased but he only shook his head and drummed his finger on the leather of his car. "I didn't realze admitting to be allergic to peacan nuts was a funny thing."

"Peacan nuts, okay, that's great to know." He said with a swift nod.

He helped her out of the car as they walked to the door but it didn't go unnoticed, someone was watching them. They were trying to be discreet but Arthur had caught them staring, he

pulled Macy closer to him and she turned to him wondering why he was so bent on proximity but the look in his eyes told her all that she needs to know.

"Did i mention that you look great in black?" he teased and her face heated up making her to hit his arm.

"Its the most basic color, anyone would look great in black. I mean look at you-" she hissed quietly but it also made him smile at her.

"Are you saying you find me attractive right now?" he asked but she was already walking ahead leaving him behind. He watched her walk away and deep down he could feel the difference in past times, it hadnt reduced, infact it was stronger than before but Macy doesn't need to know that. Not with everythng that she had gone through. He was only ehre to help and get his share of the deal and not to complicate things.

She didn't seemed to be bothered by the dark interior of his apartment, neither did she say anything about the lack of artful decoration similar to the one back at her apartment. He wasn't the type to have extras hanging especially when they were just memories he didn't want to keep.

She inspected everywhere but never said a word even as he led her into the kitchen, she settled on the stool and bakanced her chin on her knuckles.

"You maid does a great job cleaning up your mess." she started as he rolled up his sleeves and opened the cabinet. He ignored her statement and proceeded to cook for her. It was different having a woman in his apartment, not to mention in his kitchen, cooking for her like she was controlling him.

He could feel his eyes on him as he moved through the space, cooking was an ease point for him and he enjoyed it.

"I swear i wouldnt believe that you can cook. Who knows? Maybe if you weren't a ruthless business man, you would've been a celebrity chef that would charm everyone especially other women." she admitted as she drummed her finger on the counter. "Did you go yo cullinary school or something or are you freestyling it?"

"So you're saying that i'm a chaarming person?" he raised his brows at her but she only rolled her brows which made him toss the kitchen towel at her face. With her motuh opened in disbelief she glared at him ready to retaliate. Missing by a lot of inches, Arthur laughed at her pour aim and it only annoyed her even the more. "Its humbling for you to fail at something especially when you mock someone else for it."

"Why you..." she dashed after him, which he didnt expect.

"Wait now, don't run in the kitchen, its bad ha.." his words sizzled out at the same time a yelp echoed from Macy's throat. His eyes widened as he noticed the collition, the content of steam from the pot and Macy's arm sharing a kiss. It didn't take too long for her scream to follow and he rushed towards Macy who was now crouched on the groun holding her arm.

This wasn't how he expected the night to go and it was only the beginning of another disaster.
