Victoria Secrets

Damn it! Why did I do that?! Now a trickle of blood is spreading across my entire fist—I think I drove the utensil in deeper than I intended.

I contemplate the heavy rain from my corner, almost making me forget what just happened. This spectacle is nearly hypnotic. It might even numb the pain emanating from my mind, my heart, my wrist, if only for a brief moment... Victoria...

I can't help but replay the gruesome images of that massacre. I think I'll be traumatized for life... wonderful! (Note the irony)

The rain abruptly stopped, giving way to a magnificent rainbow that had no effect on me.

A strange sensation, it was as if I were stripped of all emotions and feelings, yet the pain in my wrist was all too real.

The lower my adrenaline gets, the more it hurts, and the closer I get to collapsing. Despite this, I stay strong, get up, and make my way home to treat it, hiding my wrist as best as I can.

That doesn't stop my blood from staining all my clothes, especially my beautiful white T-shirt.

Finally, away from prying eyes, I arrive home, breathles.

I see my uncle sitting on one of the kitchen chairs, reading some kind of newspaper.

I can already see his eyes widening at the sight of me, probably because of my injury.

I see him talking, his lips moving, but all I hear are ringing noises.

Cold sweats run through my entire body, and I feel my eyes closing...

Like a fog, I lose control of everything, then I feel my head suddenly fall to the side.

The last thing I remember seeing is my uncle kneeling, murmuring inaudible words.

I find myself in a limitless black space, but where am I?!

Probably a dream, or am I dead? No, a lucid dream!

Suddenly, I hear a voice all too familiar resonating in this unknown place.

_"I see you haven't lost your curiosity, have you?"

Huh?

There she is...

I could compare her to an angel or a wax doll, but those words aren't right to describe her—words aren't enough.

Victoria

Staring at me with her large, diamond-like eyes.

One tear, then two, then three.

_"Oh, Victoria!" I say between sobs. "I... I'm sorry!"

What kind of monster am I? I left her body behind and chose to run away. Why? Because I was scared.

I lock my gaze onto hers, taking in every bit of her kindness.

Always smiling, she walks towards me and wraps her arms around my neck.

_"Emily, you know, I hid a lot of things from you."

What!?

_"And those secrets," my best friend continues, "you'll have to discover them on your own."

_"What do you mean?" I retort.

Widening her smile, she says:

_"Only you could understand me... only you will understand."

_"But what are you talking about!?"

And so, this dream that I would have loved to last forever ends on this note.

I finally open my tired eyes and find myself in my room, my right hand bandaged.

I remember now—I fainted in front of my uncle. It's a first; he must have been very worried despite his coldness.
