Chapter 1 Nico Robin

Calendar Year 1509

Upside Down Mountain!

The starting point of the Grand Line, where the four seas meet!

A pirate ship with a lion's head figurehead slowly emerged from the narrow channel of Upside Down Mountain. Judging by the damage to the ship—broken mast, missing sails, and cracks all over the hull—it was clear that they had just survived a harrowing adventure.

Despite the ship's condition, the air was filled with laughter rather than groans of pain.

"Hahahaha... we made it!"

"Is this the Grand Line?"

"Brothers! We've entered the Grand Line! Roger's treasure is ours!!!"

"Oh, treasure! Treasure!!!"

"And women, women!!!!!"

Even though it had been 11 years since Pirate King Roger's public execution, the Age of Navigation sparked by his last words grew crazier each year, with more pirates flooding into the Grand Line. The Lion Pirates were one of these groups.

Their captain, Lion Pat, looked like a beast with sharp fangs and a golden mane resembling a lion's around his neck. He had already made a name for himself in North Blue with a bounty of 25 million Beli. This bounty was enough to be famous in the first half of the Grand Line, let alone North Blue, one of the four sea areas.

Using his notorious name, Pat gathered a large crew of pirates who coveted Pirate King Roger's treasure and rushed into the Grand Line. Now, they had successfully passed the first obstacle, the terrifying Upside Down Mountain, and entered the Grand Line. The crew was ecstatic, feeling as if treasure, women, and fame were within their grasp.

Under such temptation, the pirates, who were almost dead moments ago, quickly forgot the terror that Upside Down Mountain had brought them. Following their captain's orders, they began repairing the ship, restocking supplies, and conducting reconnaissance to start their journey to fame on the Grand Line.

As captain, Pat didn't need to do anything. He lounged comfortably on the throne that symbolized his position, enjoying the warm sunshine and the crazy laughter echoing around him. This made him confident about his future.

At that moment, Pat noticed something in the sky. Realizing what it was, he took out a coin worth 100 Beli from his mouth and waved it in the air. The light reflected from the coin immediately attracted a news bird, which landed next to Pat after receiving the coin. The bird handed him a newspaper from its red backpack and flew away.

Pat picked up the newspaper and began reading. His eyes widened at the headline:

[The Most Beautiful Woman in the World! ! !]

[Captain of the Nine Snakes Pirates: Boa Hancock, First Bounty, Bounty: 80 Million Beli.]

The bounty of 80 million Beli didn't intimidate Pat. Instead, he was captivated by the beautiful woman on the newspaper's cover. Her arrogant eyes, proud stance, fair skin, sexy body, and long legs made Pat feel hot all over. He laughed maniacally.

"Ah ha ha ha ha... This is great, just great..."

Pat's sudden laughter caught the attention of his crew.

"Captain, did you read some good news?"

Pat grinned and threw the newspaper to his crew. Instantly, Boa Hancock's beauty conquered everyone on the ship, making them feel hot all over.

"So beautiful!!"

"I never expected there would be such a beautiful woman in this sea!!!"

"If I can have her, even for one night, it would be worth dying."

"Hahaha....."

The crew indulged in wild fantasies, but some were doubtful and worried.

"Captain, this woman's bounty is 80 million Beli!"

Pat shrugged it off.

"So what, she's just a woman..."

With his bounty of 25 million Beli, Pat was among the top pirates in North Blue. In his understanding, it was only a matter of time before he became famous in the Grand Line and his bounty exceeded 80 million.

Thinking of their captain's terrifying power, the crew fell silent. Suddenly, the lookout shouted.

"Captain, a pirate ship appeared on the port side..."

The Lion Pirates grew tense. Although they had been bragging, they had never encountered Grand Line pirates before. Pat's expression darkened as he walked to the edge of the ship, raised his telescope, and looked. He felt relieved when he saw a small, pitiful-looking dhow. Except for a blood-red skull and crossbones flag on the sail, no one was visible on the deck, except for a boy lying on a beach chair and a pretty girl in a purple dress sitting cross-legged on his waist.

Pat's eyes widened, his mouth went dry, and he laughed maniacally.

"Hahaha, it seems God is blessing us, allowing our Lion Pirates to win our first victory in the Grand Line... Guys, attack that boat... and bring that woman here..."

Pat licked his lips. His crew understood his intentions and showed cruel and lewd smiles.

"Oh!"

"Bang bang bang bang..."

Four pitch-black cannonballs were fired, streaking across the sky and landing near the small sailboat. None hit their target, splashing into the sea instead. Pat's expression darkened.

"Useless fools... just bring the boat over..."

After yelling at his crew, Pat excitedly raised the telescope again, licked his lips, and smiled ferociously, ready to enjoy the scene. However, what he saw next made him uneasy. Countless blood-red bats had appeared in the sky over the small sailboat. They flew towards the Lion Pirates' ship, forming a massive blood ball that enveloped the entire vessel.

No one knew what happened inside the blood ball, but the desperate howls coming from within were enough to guess. Over ten minutes later, the blood ball disappeared. No one was left alive on the deck. The pirates, including Captain Pat, lay as if their blood had been drained, their faces twisted in fear, their skin shriveled, and their eyes red.

Red bats flew out of the ship's cabin, carrying treasures and food. One bat noticed the newspaper on the ground, showed a curious look, and took it. The bats returned the stolen items to their own ship's cabin, merging into a bright red liquid that flowed into the boy's body from all directions. The newspaper fell from the sky and landed on the boy, who slowly opened his eyes, seeing the sexy figure of Boa Hancock on the front page.

"Oh!"

The boy seemed to be energized, causing a reaction that made the girl on his waist bite her lip and let out a seductive groan.

"Finally, setting sail!!!"

The girl, with wheat-colored skin and a long skirt, looked at the newspaper with a charming yet dangerous allure.

"Captain Gnar, are you tired of my body now and looking for a new woman?"

Hearing this slightly jealous voice, Gnar, with a teasing smile, grabbed the girl's thigh and stroked it.

"Why, my lovely Robin-chan is already jealous for me!!!"

Yes, the charming girl on Gnar's waist was Nico Robin, the survivor of the Ohara Buster Call incident nine years ago, and the Devil's Child with a bounty of 79 million Beli.

Unfortunately, Robin didn't answer, only rolling her eyes at Gnar cutely. Gnar threw the newspaper aside, closed his eyes, and enjoyed the moment, thinking to himself:

"What a wonderful world! One Piece!!!"
