Chapter 30 Dependents·Nine Tails

"What!?"

The sudden appearance of the bat in the middle of the battle startled Ain, who was trying hard to suppress Gnar.

Although the battle had been going on for some time, and Ain had used all her powers except her Devil Fruit ability, she was still helpless against this pirate.

However, she also discovered that this pirate didn't seem to be fighting her seriously at all. She didn't know why, but the justice she insisted on in her heart still made Ain fight Gnar with all her might.

Nevertheless, the high-intensity battle made her slightly tired. Taking advantage of the bloody bat's appearance, she jumped back and escaped from the fight.

Gnar had no intention of chasing her. He stretched out his hand and caught the bloody bat.

Then, Ain saw a surprising scene. The bloody bat turned into bright red blood and merged into Gnar's body. After a while, he spoke.

"Did you make it?"

Ain was shocked. This sentence contained too many meanings. She was a little impatient and asked while breathing heavily.

"Vampire Gnar, what are you planning in Alabasta?"

This was the first sentence the two of them had spoken to each other since they started fighting.

Ain knew she might not get an answer from the pirate, but to her surprise, he replied.

"Oh, you want to know why I came to Alabasta?"

Ain was shocked and didn't understand Gnar's intentions, but since he had spoken, she had no reason to refuse.

"You're going to tell me?"

"Of course, why not? But you also have to answer me a question. In exchange, I'll tell you the purpose of my coming to Alabasta."

Ain frowned slightly but still said, "What is the question?"

She expected Gnar to ask something related to Marine secrets, but what he said next stunned her.

"May I have your name?"

"Are you joking?"

"Of course not. As long as you tell me your name, I'll tell you my purpose for coming to Alabasta."

Ain was confused. Although hesitant, she gritted her teeth and said, "My name is Ain. Now, Vampire Gnar, it's your turn to answer my question."

Gnar looked satisfied and said softly, "Ain, what a nice name! I'll remember it."

Inexplicably, Ain felt a strange tone when he said her name. She wanted to ask more, but Gnar continued.

"My purpose in coming to Alabasta is very simple. I am not satisfied with the bounty and title you Marines gave me!"

"What?"

Not only Ain, but also the Marines and pirate bounty hunters on the side were stunned.

"My bounty is only 45 million beli, which pales in comparison to Robin-chan's 79 million beli bounty. And the title of vampire is too common. So, I came here to find a stepping stone to increase my bounty and ask the Marines to give me a more impressive title!"

"What!?"

Ain was incredulous and extremely angry.

"Are you kidding? You came to Alabasta and slaughtered people for such a reason? How can you be so callous?"

Gnar raised his thumb and shook it, speaking calmly.

"You misunderstand, Miss Ain. First, these people, who are as insignificant as ants, are not qualified to be my stepping stones. Second, you may have misunderstood the term 'massacre'..."

Ain was shocked. If Gnar's target wasn't the pirate hunters, then who in Alabasta could make his bounty surpass Nico Robin's?

She asked impatiently, "Then what do you mean by stepping stone?"

"Want to know? Miss Ain, ask another question."

Ain frowned and asked softly, "What is the question?"

A mysterious smile appeared on Gnar's face again.

"Does Miss Ain have a boyfriend?"

Though she expected another unserious question, Ain was still surprised by Gnar's query.

However, she did not feel any shame. She just wanted to know what Gnar was planning in Alabasta, so she replied with a cold face.

"No. Now, it's time for you to answer!"

Gnar didn't waste any time and said, "Crocodile, that's my target. He's in this country right now."

"What!?"

Ain was shocked, and her pupils contracted sharply.

The surrounding Marines and pirate bounty hunters also reacted immediately.

"Hey, Crocodile? The Crocodile I know?"

"The guy who challenged Whitebeard in the New World and even fought against Bullet, the devil's child..."

"The great pirate with a bounty of 81 million beli..."

"Shouldn't a monster like that be in the New World?"

"Hiding in Alabasta? Are you kidding..."

Ain came to her senses, gritted her teeth, and said with cold sweat on her forehead, "What surprising news!"

One vampire Gnar was already too much for her to handle, and now there was a big pirate like Crocodile. Fortunately, from Gnar's words, she could tell that the two were not allied.

This was the only good news.

But how would things unfold next?

Ain didn't pay attention for a moment, but Gnar took the initiative to answer.

"I'm sorry, Miss Ain, thank you very much for your lesson just now!"

"Lesson?"

Ain was stunned and didn't understand what he meant. She saw the black sword in Gnar's hand turn into blood and disappear. He smiled.

"However, I don't have time to play with you, Miss Ain. As a thank you for the lesson, let me give you another gift."

"What?"

"Snap!"

At this moment, Gnar's hands clapped together, and his whole body exuded a bright red aura. Blood visible to the naked eye surged around him like boiling water, slowly flying into the sky.

"The Devil Fruit I ate is the Zoan, Phantom Beast Species, Bat Fruit, and Vampire Form. One of my basic abilities is to manipulate blood. I can use blood to create any items I want and give them certain powers. I call them my dependents. So, to prevent Miss Ain from hindering me in the future, I'll let my dependents play with you."

"Come out, Nine Tails!!!"
