Chapter 10: Lucky to Be Alive!

"No, thank you, but that's not necessary! I'll get my luggage down myself." Cheng Xiaoyou smiled apologetically at the gentle and elegant boy. "I'm sorry, but could you step out for a moment so I can get my luggage?"

Although the boy was just sitting in the car leisurely, he exuded an air of nobility that made her instinctively use polite language.

"Let's go up the mountain together. You look tired." The boy said as he grabbed her wrist, trying to pull her into the car.

"Really, there's no need. I might not study at Shengyu after all." Cheng Xiaoyou lowered her head and stubbornly stayed where she was.

It wasn't that she easily gave in or that she was weak. She had come to Shengyu because of the comprehensive tuition waiver they offered.

But now, after just one day and not even having registered, she felt completely out of place in this school.

She didn't want to stay here anymore.

There was a public school in the city that also offered her free tuition. She would rather go there than face those arrogant rich kids!

The warm hand on her wrist suddenly let go. The boy's eyes sparkled as he gently asked, "Did you run into some trouble? Maybe I can help."

His words, though softly spoken, carried a hint of arrogance, as if he was sure he could solve any problem he addressed.

"Thank you, but really, no need." Cheng Xiaoyou looked up at him, feeling even more disheartened.

"What if I said—" the boy's pleasant voice sounded in her ear again. After a pause, he continued, "I hope you can stay. Would that be a good enough reason for you to stay at Shengyu?"

"Ah?"

The girl looked up in surprise, not expecting him to say that.

The tall streetlight could illuminate the mountain road but couldn't light up the emotions in the boy's eyes. However, his serious demeanor made it seem like he genuinely hoped she would stay.

Was she dreaming?

If a random stranger had said something like this to her, Cheng Xiaoyou would have dismissed him as crazy.

But when this boy said it, her heart started pounding uncontrollably.

It wasn't from running or anger; it was as if someone had flipped a switch, making her heart beat rapidly, reminding her of her current confusion.

"Sorry, I opened your bag earlier. Those drawings are yours, right? I'd love to study in the same school as someone so talented." The boy's words, like a lover's whisper, carried a tender gentleness that made her heart race.

"Shengyu's art class is the best in the country. Wouldn't it be a shame to give it up so easily?"

Seeing the girl remain silent, the boy added more weight to his persuasion, like a hunter enticing his prey.

Moments later—

When Cheng Xiaoyou found herself sitting in the spacious car with a built-in TV and fridge, it all felt like a dream.

She didn't know how she had ended up in the car; her memory of getting in was completely fuzzy and chaotic.

Everything around her was warm and luxurious, as if she had stepped into a fairy tale.

Even her fatigue seemed to vanish, as if all the hardships she had endured were just for this moment, to meet him!

"Hello, let me introduce myself. I am Ling Yexi, the dawn that rises above the night!" His voice, gentle yet subtly proud, carried a sense of nobility.

As the luxury car drove back through the grand school gates, with students stepping aside and bowing in respect, Cheng Xiaoyou returned to Shengyu Academy.

Ling Yexi put down his phone and looked at Cheng Xiaoyou, "Everything's settled. Just go to class tomorrow; we're both in Class A. Isn't that lucky?"

He said it was lucky that they were in the same class!

Cheng Xiaoyou felt a strange emotion swelling in her chest. Such a perfect person telling her it was lucky to be in the same class with her was itself an honor.

His eyelashes were long and thick, and his black, glass-like eyes, hidden behind them, seemed to shimmer with a misty glow, exuding a pure and enchanting allure.

Especially when he looked at her so intently, it made her feel like the most important person in the world, unmatched in his eyes.

"Also, I took one of your stuffed animals because I liked it. You don't mind, do you?" Ling Yexi asked casually, a slight smile on his lips.

"Not at all, not at all." Cheng Xiaoyou shook her head like a rattle. Someone liked the cute toys she made!

"Your toys are special. Where did you get them?" Ling Yexi spread his hand, revealing a cute little elephant made of floral fabric, which looked very appealing.

"I made it myself. Each one is unique!" Cheng Xiaoyou said proudly. Her middle school classmates loved the little things she made; they were very popular!

"I see. That's great. I only like unique things." Ling Yexi nodded with satisfaction, his eyes glistening with a soft glow.

"In that case, I'll make one especially for you. I feel like you deserve something better!" Cheng Xiaoyou said excitedly. She really wanted to design a special toy for him, the boy who had given her hope in the darkness, the dawn that rose above the night.

"Remember your words, because I'll be looking forward to it!" Ling Yexi's eyes softened with a gentle smile.

The car dropped her off at the dormitory building before driving away.

Meanwhile, Gong Che was sleeping soundly when his phone buzzed with a message. The screen lit up with a single line of flattering text: "Young Master Gong, that girl has left the school!"

Reaching for his phone and glancing at the message, Gong Che snorted, "Lucky her!" and tossed the phone aside.

His sleepiness gone, he got up and went downstairs, where Shangguan Yao was sitting on the sofa, hugging a pillow and watching TV.

Seeing Gong Che come down, Shangguan Yao pitifully said, "I'm so hungry!"

"Night hasn't come back yet?" Gong Che looked around but didn't see that kid.

Just then, the door opened from the outside, and Ling Yexi walked in with an air of arrogance, like a king surveying his territory. "Hello everyone, did you miss me?!"
