Outside, Jin Hao and Gu Yingluo appeared, drawing the attention of many in the Mu family. They immediately recognized Gu Yingluo as Mu Yan's fiancée. Whispers circulated, questioning if the Great Elder's earlier claims were true. Had Gu Yingluo come to cancel the engagement? And was the man beside her the son of a high-ranking Jinyu Sect official?
Jin Hao surveyed the surroundings with arrogance, expressing disdain for everything about the Mu family. Compared to the grand Jinyu Sect, the Mu family's domain seemed insignificant. Jin Hao feigned covering his nose, muttering, "Let's resolve this quickly. This place reeks of mediocrity."
"The young master of the Jinyu Sect has arrived. Why does the head of the Mu family not come to greet him?" an elder accompanying Jin Hao shouted.
The Great Elder and other family members rushed out, plastering flattering smiles on their faces.
"Welcome, Young Master of the Jinyu Sect. It is an honor to have you here. I am from the Mu family..." the Great Elder began, his demeanor obsequious.
Jin Hao cut him off with a dismissive wave. "Enough with the nonsense. I'm here to resolve the engagement between Yingluo and your Mu family. I hope you know what's best for you."
Gu Yingluo, anxious and pale, searched the crowd for Mu Yan.
The Great Elder, still smiling obsequiously, said, "Of course! It is a blessing for Yingluo to be favored by you. Our Mu family has no objection to canceling the engagement."
"Great Elder! Where is Brother Mu Yan? I need to speak with him!" Gu Yingluo shouted in panic, eager to clarify her feelings.
The Great Elder's face darkened at the mention of Mu Yan's name. Just then, Mu Yan appeared, a calm but pained look in his eyes.
"Yingluo, do you want to cancel the engagement? Is this your decision?" Mu Yan asked coldly.
Gu Yingluo's face brightened at the sight of him. "Brother Mu Yan, I never agreed to cancel the engagement!" she exclaimed.
Mu Yan felt relieved. As long as Yingluo's heart remained unchanged, he was willing to fight the world for her.
Jin Hao, however, was furious. He glared at Gu Yingluo, his murderous intent toward Mu Yan growing stronger. He had showered her with treasures and elixirs, yet she only showed happiness when seeing Mu Yan.
Jin Hao's thoughts turned dark. "This woman will pay for this. I'll make her my slave, break her spirit, and destroy her family if necessary."
Facing Mu Yan, Jin Hao's voice was cold. "Are you Mu Yan? I advise you to step aside and not cause trouble. You can't bear the wrath of the Jinyu Sect."
Mu Yan, unfazed, responded with interest, "Really? Is the wrath of the Jinyu Sect so terrifying?"
Jin Hao's aura flared, revealing his power at the second level of the Golden Core Stage. The display of strength intimidated the Mu family members.
"Yan'er!" Mu Lei, Mu Yan's father, was worried. He knew his son had just reached the initial stage of the Golden Core. Facing Jin Hao, who had superior skills and secret techniques, seemed like an impossible challenge.
The Great Elder and others were even more nervous. They didn't care for Mu Yan's life, but if he angered Jin Hao, the entire Mu family could be implicated.
"Jin Hao! I do not agree to cancel the engagement, and I do not want to be with you! Can't you just let me go?" Gu Yingluo pleaded.
Jin Hao sneered. "Gu Yingluo, do you think you have a choice? Your family seeks to benefit from my Jinyu Sect. Canceling the engagement would mean defying both me and the sect. Can you bear that responsibility?"
Gu Yingluo's face paled with despair. She realized the truth in his words—defying the Jinyu Sect was not an option. Her family and Mu Yan would suffer.
Jin Hao's smirk widened. "In the face of absolute power, backbone and love are meaningless."
He turned to Mu Yan, expecting submission. But Mu Yan's eyes only grew sharper, causing a rare flicker of fear in Jin Hao.
Angered by his own fear, Jin Hao's murderous intent surged. "I've given you enough chances. Now you face death!"
Jin Hao's aura burst forth, a storm of power radiating from his body. The young Mu family members trembled, their legs weak from the pressure.
Only Mu Yan stood firm, unmoved like a towering mountain.
